| Diskin made his debut in 2001 and it wasn't until the 2004 season that people were convinced by him. Hell some still weren't right up to when he left.

He looked sharper today, to me he seems to play better when being used from the interchange bench.

Which people were these?
Diskin was absolutely superb on his debut at Wheldon Road in the Challenge Cup while standing in for the injured hooker and the obvious 1st choice option at 9 (16 appearances later) as soon as Mears left the club at the end of that year.

I think it's more of a case of having momentum and running options to work off.
I also think his kicking game in either half is a huge bonus and hopefully the more he's used he'll cement his place then hopefully Hood will do the same and RB can go back to 7.

Sorry, meant to put ''wasn't until 2004 that SOME people were convinced by him''.
Which is true, because lets be honest even after 07 and 08 Grand Finals, SOME were still crying out for a more creative and attacking hooker at Leeds. I was a fan of Diskin and he was a great servant to the club but you can't deny that he had his detractors amongst the fans right up to his departure.

| Putting aside the good win today against poor opposition, the next 6 league games (with 3 rounds of the CC interspersed if we progress that far) are
Catalans (H), Hull FC (A), St Helens (H), Bradford (Manchester Magic), Wigan (H), Warrington (A)
Going to be a vital couple of months in terms of trying to get close to the other 2 pieces of silverware for this year.

That's OK, some people don't really understand the game that's played in front of them. Thankfully there's an active covert education programme now in place and basic aspects such as defensive alignment, forward passes and knock-ons are beginning to be correctly identified.

His detractors I guess were generally disappointed they had to wait such a long time to get the pre knee reconstruction Diskin back out on the field and some I imagine never felt he quite got back to that full International standard post his return in 2005.

| Quote: Luke Leaner "[i"The regular season is unimportant and the weekly rounds are meaningless. It's all about how you finish, not how you start. We won it from 5th last year and we'll do the same this year"[/i etc, etc, etc.
I appreciate that our success in recent years has lead some supporters to pump up their arrogance levels and believe that we are close to invincible, but this kind of attitude is very dangerous.
If anyone needs reminding, what we did last year was not the norm - and we were the first ever club to do it. Do people really think that regular season rounds are unimportant and that we're going to do the same thing again?
We have played badly for 3 weeks on the trot. Really badly. It's wrong to think that it doesn't matter and people who think otherwise are going to be in for a shock because, like it or not, league position is vital when it comes to play off time.'"
Interesting. I sometimes share your frustration with the weekly rounds. Not so much that we are "expected" to lose so many; but the flat performances that are produced.
Last night vs. Catalans was an antidote to that, a rough and tough encounter where the impression was given that the result did matter for both teams, and I thoroughly enjoyed the 80 minutes.
