| 25 minutes into the game and I was beginning to think that Sky had finally come to their senses and it had been kicked into touch but no such luck. Clarkey on the mike and the bloody thing was reintroduced.

Salford by 16 at half time. Oh how it's going to make all the pundits and bookies who predicted a saints win look stupid!

Only a 44 point swing in the second half. Impressive!

| In fairness to the much maligned margin metre it was almost right after the final whistle.
Having backed Salford with a 26 point start I can't tell you how delighted I was when Danny Williams caught the ball when stood completely outside the field of play only to learn that this season - according to the RFL - he is now deemed to have carried the ball dead.
Try explaining that to a new fan. He carried the ball dead ..... eh no he didn't ..... Yeah I know he didn't but he did, stop being awkward.

I think I missed this rule change in the off season and, although I can kind of understand what they are trying to achieve it goes against every other rule that mentions the receiving of the ball whilst having at least one foot out of the field of play.
A daft rule that slows down the run of play and can potentially prevent the quick 20m restart.
One has to wonder if Williams was even made aware of this rule change or if he was just on autopilot?

| Agree Tvoc/FB a ridiculous rule change that offers an advantage to the team about to reset their defence on the 30m and also doesn't make sense IF you are already dead in goal when you touch the ball.

The players have been told of the rule changes, however in that split second it's difficult not to do something that you have been doing for your entire rugby career.
Personally I don't like that rule as it slows the game down and rewards a poor kick.
The other one last night was the pass when the ref had shouted held. It should have been a penalty as it was at least a second after the held call. I agree if it's at the moment the ref. calls held but last night was nothing like that.

| Thanks for the explanation TVOC now to take it further (same postioning of player) but the ball bounces in the field of play first is the player still deemed to have taken the ball out?

| If Phil Clarke is at Headingley tomorrow I believe it will be the first time he as been to the ground we were crowned champions. I trust we will give him a warm and friendly welcome considering his statements from last year.
On a side note does anyone still have the link to the Grand Final inspirational video?

| So where was it tonight? Is it only reliable in low intensity SL encounters.
You could tell from Clarke's comments if it had been in operation around the sixty minute mark it would have been confidently predicting - Manly by plenty.

It couldn't predict a p1££up on St Patrick's Day.

| I turned the TV off when the magic margin metre said St Helens were gonna win by 31 (I think it was 31) and Hemmings said that was a conservative estimate.
I get no pleasure in watching one sided contests or conservatives.
Did I miss much?
