Exactly, if McDermott really is not too keen on Senior he will just make him train all year and never play him = no pay = Mac 1 Senior 0.

| Quote: Tony Soprano "They are all grown adults and I'm sure they can work through a very trivial spat, Senior took the bigger contract at Crusaders (and who can blame him at his age), I'm sure some stuff he said was to promote his book and nothing too serious.'"
But it's not a trival spat is it?
McDermott didn't want him, that is clear from the quotes, and clear why Keith said what he did. Why would that change suddenly?
Does this not actually go back to was it 2005? when Peacock and Senior had the "alleged" fight and fall out, and McDermott sided with Peacock.

Yup, can't dissagree with that. But what a great changing room that will be for the club.

I agree with you. If GH keeps to his word there should be further announcement(s)! If not a replacement centre there where else would someone add quality the squad?

They might be celebrating at seeing Keith taken down a peg or three if his comments really have p1ssed them off to the extent you're suggesting.
But of course the reality is that it'll be forgotten by next season and all parties will pull together. I'd imagine that far harsher words than anything that Senior's said in public have been exchanged this season. And forgotten.

Lets just remember this is all guess work but by the fact that Leeds have offered Senior a deal I would guess McDermott is ok with him coming back unless McDermott said no and GH over ruled him or GH didn't even inform him.
I doubt either of those happened, Just by stories in the rl press I get the impression that GH & BM have a very good working relationship and he stood by McDermott all this year when he had ample chance to get shut.

| A pay as you play deal seems sensible but I'd rather not have Senior hanging around the club.
He's been a negative influence with his media profile, digs at the management and insatiable ego. We don't need him now with Hardaker, Watkins, Delaney and Ablett all offering more in that position than his last showings in the blue and amber.
Hopefully the deal means that he will only be used to cover injuries, not to flatter his ego to clock up appearances etc to be the longest serving player in the SL era.
A U-turn from the club is quite surprising. It could indicate a change of plan following Hardaker taking to the centre position (i.e. we're no longer signing an experienced aussie, so Keith can provide cover in case the kids don't work out). It could also suggest we've missed out on a bigger signing in the centre position.

Did Keith Senior say or not say only this weekend?
As Hetherington not just come out today and said that the club offered Keith a one year deal before his injury, which McDermott pointed out he would have to fight for his place?
As Hetherington not just come out and said it was dissapointing the comments attributed to the club from Keith?
Does this all sound like the coach is happy with this arrangement?'"
Oh god!!! We are fooking champions and its still tampons at 20 paces for Gotcha and G

Not 2005, Peacock was in his last season at Bradford then.

True, True, hence the question mark. Was it 2006 then?

| In professional sport with jobs at stake potentially I would like to think a little internal spat from 6 hrs ago would not have any bearing on the team and management now!

| Personally I’d be happy to see Keith Senior back on a pay as you go deal where he has to fight for his place. One of the biggest problems since 2006 has been complacency in the team where some players can play mediocre against mediocre teams and still come out on top. The only time we tend to see efforts that entertain are when it matters in the challenge cup and the play offs. When in reality we should see entertainment on the field all season long.
Ok we don’t want a season like Warrington’s where efforts become almost fruitless. But surely season ticket holders deserve better than some of the dross that has been served on at Headingley from time to time. Now I think that a deal like Keith Senior’s could address this problem because if the likes of Kallum Watkins and Zak Hardaker aren’t pulling there weigh then they’ll be a determined Keith Senior waiting in the ranks who has some critics to prove wrong. Yes Keith Senior has been ‘passed it’ for a while now but I’m sure he’s still capable of some good performances if he comes back to the rhinos. I feel that fighting for his place will re-energise him.
Hopefully these ‘pay as you go’ deals are the start of many for players at the Rhinos coming to the end of their careers. For example wouldn’t it be awesome if Jamie Peacock in a couple of years’ time was they waiting in the sidelines for the likes of Brad Singleton and Kyle Amor (if he’s still here by then) to run out of form? Lets just hope that if Keith comes back his time here is used wisely rather than abused as some fear because Keith is mates with Gary.
Finally whatever gets said in the media and Keith Seniors book is hot air. In order for things to sell then some uncomfortable things need to be out in the open. It certainly doesn’t warrant grudges between the two parties involved nor does it warrant petty airs and graces. Hopefully more players will say things in the media because it’ll get our game much more exposure. Nothing is ever too controversial to not eventually blow over. For example (ok this is a bad one) anti-rugby league journalist don’t spend they time talking about Joel ‘woof’ Monaghan one off unsavoury activity that took place over a year ago now.

When ever and what ever it was both parties got on with it and it didn't exactly affect moral from '07 onwards.
