| I'm surprised anyone here's giving any credibility to wilkin's comments.
How did Bailey's actions in geeing up our celebrations differ from times when Ali, say, has done exactly the same?

Bailey is a clown.'"
Yup. [iIf what Wilkin says is true[/i, then I agree. Bailey should be fined by the club. I have no problem with Bailey winding up opposition players during a game but this is out of order. If this had been Sam Tomkins against Leeds there'd be a 10 page thread of outraged Leeds fans by now. This sort of thing doesn't reflect well on a team that for the most part carried themselves with dignity during the play-off series.

He was there, that seems to be a problem in itself to some.

And all the other saints lads deserved respect big time. There is no doubt our clubs, fans and players have become closer due to our epic battles.'"
I must admit I was disappointed to read this today. Both from Jon in terms of him saying it publicly and Bailey for actually doing it. I think Wilkin has a specific incident in mind because after your penultimate try the crowd around us exploded at Bailey, something to do with Makinson. Which I guess is what Wilkin in on about him squaring up to the young players and goading them. There was also supposedly something after the game with him lording it over one of the kids and showing no class, but I'll admit I was stomping through puddles outside the ground by then. It's a shame because I thought both clubs had done the sport proud.
It will certainly add a spicy element to the games between the clubs next season. It could have gone rather dull with Jammer moving on to better things. But not now.

If this is true, then fair enough. I thought Wilkin's comments referred to Bailey playing up to the Leeds crowd.

Certainly going to be an interesting day. Sporting Life's main rugby league headline is that Ryan Bailey is going to be called up to the England squad.
So does Wilkin suddenly get an injury or does MacBanana back out of selecting Bailey?

This thing about Bailey and "kids" does my fooking nut in.
There not kids. If they were kids they would having be playing for their junior teams on Saturday. They are adults playing a professional sport.
How old is Makinson? 20? 21? 22?, Bailey is only 27 isn't he? hardly an adult attacking 10 year old at the school gates.
I am not making excuses about Bailey's actions, because like others I think he needs to grow up and start showing some dignity. But pack it in with this big bully on kids lark rubbish.

Makinson was 19 and in his debut season. Bailey has played for 9 years. Bailey wouldn't do it to Sia Soliola or Tony Puletua or James Graham, which I guess is what wound Wilkin up.

I had a chat with Bailey yesterday about all sorts. Apparently he's due a call today, so he's keeping his phone with him. He was so proud of his GF ring, it's the only one he has left and, as has been mentioned already, he, and the rest of the payers were all shocked and stunned at what they have achieved over the last few weeks.
On the subject of his "Attitude", I would point the whiners in the direction of Laughton, Howard, Skerrett, Matautia, Nickle, Sironen, McDermott (x2) and others of the same ilk. Proper props, pure PFU stalwarts. Nobody needs to know why a bad boy does the things he does. You just accept you have a bad boy prop and enjoy it.
IMHO obviously.

Did you have the same concerns in 2003 and 2004 for Bailey when he was getting cheap shots galore from the likes of Sculthorpe?

I've not got a problem with Bailey and the pantomime villain stuff, but he's nothing like those players you've listed. They are all players who would physically harm you, then shake your hand at the end. Bailey is kind of that in reverse.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with England. Are we back to them splitting them into Leeds and Saints groups in training and them not speaking as reportedly happened at the World Cup?

| Let's see if Wilkin is a man of his word, if he hates Bailey so much, and wasn't just crying after losing again, he'll pull out of the squad!

By the way, watching the Sky coverage back yesterday, they showed a shot of Leon Pryce on the bench, which I believe was the first sighting of him at a Grand Final since 2005.'"
It's never going to get old that is it?
Saints must be sick of the sight of us.
