| Quote: G1 "Good spell by McShane. Certainly the better of the two hookers we played Thursday (what does that say about Buderus?) '"
It says nothing really much about the starting hooker but quite a lot about the role of a bench hooker in a two hooker rotation selection.

To be honest at the moment McShane is looking the better of the two

| The 2 hooker system is working really well. Buderus' defence in the early part of the game is excellent, he really gets stuck in and fills gaps. McShane is providing the more craft of the 2 at the moment, infact he is looking the real deal, which I have always had my doubts he would become if I am honest.

Couldn't agree more.
Why read it and weep? If McShane is capable of this then why waste such cap space and a quota space on someone like Buderus? Diskin could've done the job.
Like I've said for a while, he and Diskin didn't work together because Buderus should've been used from the bench with Diskin starting. However, all this nonsense of Buderus being an 80 min player should have firmly been put to bed now.

While the need to recruit Buderus at the time was questionable he is certainly an upgrade on Diskin. Whether the signing was right or not it's been great to be able to watch someone who will go down as one of the best hookers of his generation. I'm sure McSHane would have complimented Diskin as well but I bet he's learning a hell of a lot more from Buderus.
Although I'm sure you know all that already - keep plugging that agenda

| I've been massively impressed with McShane this season, after being a little critical last season.
I guess that's what comes from learning off one of the best

You mean Lowes' influence of course?
After all Buderus has been there for the last 2 years as well

He was bloody awful in 2009, worse in 2008 and absolutely shocking in 2007. I mean, we were languishing in the depths of obscurity with a crap hooker in those years.

He's no Cunningham but he has the potential to be a lot better than Lawford!
Although Lawford had the potential to be a lot better than Lawford was as well!

Yes I just get the feeling that he is on the same trajectory as Lawford. Of course I really hope he progresses and ends up much nearer the Cunnigham end of the scale, as ever time will tell

Lawfords potential was never converted, a bit like his goal kicks.
He liked the booze too much and the training even less.
But the comparisons are easy to put together on the rugby field, old school barrell like half or hooker. Crafty, tricky etc. And they are both pig ugly and come from 'colourful' backgrounds.

**G1 Anti-Buderus Agenda Alert.**
Er... do you really think McShane would be capable of this had he not spent 2 years training with one of the greatest hookers the game has ever produced?
I'm fully aware that Buderus is no longer the best he could be, and he's come to Leeds for the cash, so what?! As a 1 to 1 trainer for McShane you couldn't get any better. McShane has always showed promise, and hopefully Buderus can teach him everything he knows, before leaving him to it.
These guys work 30 hours a week, and you watch 1.33 hours of that. You watch 4.433% of their working week, and you're saying... "What's the point of Buderus when McShane can do the job?".
Get a grip.
