| Quote: Dave Lister "Harsh on your lot, but then I suppose it is an easy excuse to make for a Leeds supporter who isn't used to losing. You have more than enough quality in your side to be serious challengers for the top berth in the league, but you are coached by a clown. We (Quins) have a worse side than last season, yet looking to be faring a lot better, even at this early stage. Player by player, we are well down on your squad, yet we still turned you over. Big problems at Leeds, IMO.'"
He's right though isn't he? Take the three best props and half back out of any team and ask them to go to a title challenger and I expect a similar result. Especially as our defeat was caused by being too expansive but as we couldn't take them on we have to try and go around them.
Not that I disagree with your assessment of our coach btw. What's interesting is many posters on here hated Tony Smith and gave way too much of the credit for our early successes under him to his "genius" assistant, Mr McDermott.

| Even without the likes of Peacock and McGuire we have enough 'good' players to do better than we have so far this season. Playing with no structure in either attack or defence, and unwillingness to graft when required is generally not a good recipe for success, injuries or not.

| The annoying thing was that they didn't have to play well or do anything special to beat us.
Like last week we beat ourselves.
We weren't overpowered in the forwards but made stupid errors that handed them field position.
&/or possession.
They had a kid & a reserve team forward in their backs (plus Briers) yet Senior didn't seem to bust a tackle all night long.

| Leeds for some reason that i can't fathom have always had an aversion to signing top quality players -until their career is in decline. Ben Cross - who looks hopeless, is the latest example.
And why didn't we sign Joel Monaghan when it's obvious we need a centre to replace Senior?

Joel monaghan got sacked by his club for been sucked off by a dog? and him then posting it on the net! Leeds is a family club! When sinfield resigned he made a comment about the player culture and bringing in the right people not just on the field but off it! those comments are about the likes of monaghan, greg bird, westerman and the like. I wouldn't want my kids looking up to a player like that.
I dont care how good someone is on the field. Joel monaghan is a Pratt and I would be gutted if he was anywhere near our club

I'm not bothered about Monaghan, but the players I'd have liked to have signed were two good, young English players with potential to get better, and be mainstays of the team for the next decade. Both were available to us, and both were affordable to us.
But we gave Keith another contract extension instead of signing Shenton, and we signed Cross instead of McCarthy-Scarsbrook.

| We dont know the in's and outs of who we went for and who we didnt regarding transfers so idle speculation achieves nothing. If you believe the rumours we were in for a few players this off season Shenton top of the shopping list, alas for reasons we dont know, are not privy to we didnt end up securing him despite another huge rumour circulated round this very messageboard as to why we didnt.
ATEOTD we are 4 games in, yes there have been mistakes, yes there has been a distinct lack of structure but there is nothing that cannot be fixed by simple graft and effort of everyone pulling in the right direction. Im a frustrated as anyone but you can see what they are trying to do and we will get there it just takes time.

| His agent was the deciding factor with regards to shenton the club did not want to deal with him, hes also the agent for chev walker, gareth ellis, mark calderwood, and I think ritchie mathers, I think that answers the question re this player deal agreed but late intervention fron agent, GH said enough was enough no deal and saints stepped in.
