| Richards has been here 5 years having made his Wigan debut in Catalans' first-ever game in 2006.
He'd take one of my wing spots.

What like Sinny with Farrell's sympathy vote??

| Like this thread!!
Been some great players in Super League!!
I'd go with:
Radlinski - Lacked Wellens' footwork, but vastly superior in defence.
Carney - Was freakishly strong, with great footwork and turn of pace.
Lyon - Even the most anti-saints of us can't argue about how good he was.
Senior - Pains me to say it, but he's been consistantly better than nearly anyother centre for over a decade.
Can't decide between the pace of Albert or the power of Vainikolo.
In the halfbacks, I thought about McGuire, but I don't feel him and Long gel particularly well. In my opinion, You can't leave Long out, and he needs an organiser so:
Barrett - he was a class above, just a shame Wigan didn't have a pack to match.
Long - Say no more.
O'Connor - Never missed a tackle, always made yards and went toe-to-toe with Gordon Talas. Plus, he started at Salford.
Cunningham - Simply, Nailed On!!
Mozza - Smash the opposition up early.
Joynt/Ellis - Struggling to decide.
Farrell - The best player of his generation.
Scullthorpe - Second only to Farrell
Bench:
Barrie McDermott - Can't get over how he's been ignored by the Leeds fans.
Peacock - Has taken it to everyone for more than a few years.
Kevin Sinfield - Great player, and very versatile. Unfortunately for Sini, Scully and Faz were superior.
Joynt/Ellis.
Obviously, I've missed out Graham, but, no matter how many minutes Graham plays I just feel the other props add more impact. Also, missed out Fielden and can't work out how to fit him in.

You obviously see it differently, but if I'm picking a hypothetical dream team then I'm not particularly concerned who will gel with who, given that they'll never take to the field together, more the individual merits of each player. So I'd have to say McGuire personally, for his contribution to SL over the last 7-8 years, rather than the 2 decent seasons we got from Barrett.

| Mine would be
Wellens
Richards
Hape
Senior
Vainikolo
McGuire
Long
Peacock
Cunningham
Morley
Ellis
Farrell
Sinfield
Pryce
Graham
Fielden
Sculthorpe
Contentous points would be Wellens over Radlinksi, I think that although Radlinski at his peak was better, the length of time Wellens has been playing at such a consistently high level wins it for me. Radlinski could hardly get off the treatment table for about 2 years before he retired.
Hape over Lyon, again tough as they were both top centres, but Hape again wins it for doing it for longer for Bulls, than the 2 years Lyon did it for

There's been a lot of quality props in super league over the last ten years:
Fielden
Coley, slight bias there
Craig Smith
Was it Dave Fairleigh?
Paul Anderson
Joe Vangana
Feka, although his game time is very limited
Macca had slightly better footwork, was more explosive and took it to Aussies a bit more. That is just my opinion!!

| I both like and dislike threads like this.
Dislike because so many people take it as an opportunity to show their 'knowledge' rather just picking the best players.
Case in point, David Furner. Now then, Furner was a good player - played what a season each for Wigan and Leeds, possibly two for Wigan. There is not a chance in the world that Furner should be in any team before Farrell, Sculthorpe, Sinfield and possibly some others. Even at his peak playing in Australia he was not a better option that those three.
It's just a case of lets chuck Furner in as he was revered on these boards and it will earn me some points.
I like them, because it gets good debate going.
My team,
Withers
Richards
Gleeson
Senior
Vainikolo
McGuire
Long
Fielden
Cunningham
Peacock
Ellis
Farrell
Sinfield
Sculthorpe
Wellens
Lowes
Pryce

Furner played 4 seasons in SL in this decade, the same amount as Lowes and only 1 less than Richards and Farrell who you've included in your team.

| Furner was a class act, and areal bit of bad business by Wigan letting him go.(Oh and a good bit of business by Leeds signing him)
I remember talking to Frank Endacott at a reserve team game and he said "We (Wigan) have just signed the hardest forward in Rugby League, no-one will mess with him"
When I asked him to whom he referred, he said "David Furner"
