| Quote: matty wire 75 "I agree with you. The wire fans, Leeds fans and neutrals that go and watch there own teams week in week out would never dream of causing trouble, specially at the showpiece game of the season. Unfortunatly warrington and leeds would have attracted a fair amount of day trippers who couldn't give a stuff about the reputations of these two fine clubs. I don't think the truth will ever be known about the identities of these idiots but i would'nt bet against that these were the day trippers. I had a great day last saturday, went to the premier inn before and after the match where they had an outdoor bar and music. It was filled with leeds, wire, hull, KR, saints, wigan, etc etc and the thing that stood out was everywhere you looked was groups of fans in different club shirts all having a laugh and giving predictions.'"
Like you Matty when I was at Wembley on Saturday me and a few mates were sat with Wigan,Wire,Widnes and Hull fans and us being Saints fans the banter was really good.

Strange how it's always the shaven headed guys that cause trouble

No it wasn't although there were a number of Cas fans in that block which appeared to have been partially allocated to the friends/family of the schools finalists, including Temple Moor. Beer throwing chimps in Wire shirts had been targetting the block from kick off and one loiner (in a Rhino's polo shirt) eventually retaliated by hurling his pint towards the massed ranks of Warrington fans and the ruck ensued. As a Cas fan myself I've no love for the Rhinos but I found their fans better behaved than the fancy-dress wearing, off-their-face, bandwaggon chasers from Warrington who seemed to be there for the event more than the game itself (judging by how many of them were at the bars during play)

Were you even at wembley on saturday? If you were then you would have noticed that the overwhelming majority of fans from both clubs were well behaved and there for the whole experiance of a CC final. You must have seen quite a fair bit of bar action yourself during the game, as you seem to have an in depth knowledge of numbers. I think if you had paid a visit to the leed's end you would have found a fair amount of daytrippers there aswell. To refer to us all as "fancy dress wearing, off-their-face, band wagon chaser's" is well wide of the mark.

For someone who only joined last week you're not yet in a position to go throwing your weight around, especially on the Leeds board.

A lad at work yesterday was saying that some of the rhinos fans involved were from east end park as he had met up with them on saturday night in London.

I didn't visit the bar once but you couldn't help noticing a constant stream of Wire fans hitting the concourse and/or returning to their seats with those beer carriers. I also wish I had a pound for everyone of them who found their way into our section only to realise several rows down that they were in the wrong place (unlike most of the women who deliberately opted for the male toilets at Northampton and Gateway Services).
Find me 20% of those at Wembley (10% among the face-painted tutu brigade) who watched you at Wilderspool and I'll retract the band-waggon dig.

| Leeds/neutrals in the Wire end will notice a lot of drunken wire supporters just as Wire/neutral in the leeds end will have noticed a lot of drunken Leeds supporters. MOST of these drunken supporters will have been good natured out for a good day. All decent FANS will have deplored the actions of the mindless minority at the game and will hope that action can be taken against those involved. Didnt see it all so will make no comment about the incident itself but given the nature/location etc of the event Im sure there will be plenty of evidence as to waht happened. The one consistent that is coming our of both sides of the equation is that part of the problem was a mixture of fans and alcohol. Whilst I am fully in favour of mixing fans (had some great banter with other fans) personally alcohol at the game is not a necessity.
Here endeth my 2pennyworth. (30 year wire supporter even going back to wilderspool days , no tutu, no facepaint but shirt scarf flag cuddly toy accompanied by 3 members of family two of whom watched at wilderspool, one is a season ticker holders and had facepaint and one (aged 12) at her first game (and who actually commented that the fighters were pillocks)....if you wont withdraw the comment will you please acknowledge...as I have done here..... we aint all like that)

Absolutely well put. When we moved into the HJ in 2004 a lot of people who never went to wilderspool started to regularly attend matches. smoking monkey im sure you will agree that this is a good thing for RL. Im also sure you'll agree about the people who caused the trouble are scum, no matter which part of the country they are from.

| RE : bandwagon chasing ..
Is it acceptable for somebody to have a brother who once played for his home town , but has moved about a bit around (eg.)SL clubs , to switch allegiances as and when he switches clubs ?
I can undertand the 'supporting my brother' bit . But switching clubs when he does is surely not right .
Would it also be acceptable for the sibling to revert to supporting the home-town team when the brother eventually hangs up his boots ?

Yes, its nobody's business, its like frequenting a certain pub for a while and then switching to another, nothing more, any talk of "loyalty" and suchlike is just bullshoite, professional sporting clubs are commercial entities and exist to attract new customers and maintain existing ones, or at least they should if they had their eyes open and not just shuffle along year on year expecting everyone to just follow regardless.
