Donald was a good acquisition for Leeds at the time but ultimately his antipodean (probably post 2008 off quota) averageness blocked the path to 1st grade opportunities for a couple of Leeds Academy prospects which was a shame, IMO.

If they're promoting from within as the YEP is suggesting then this should free up more cap space for Eastwoods replacement, which is the position that is more vital to fill imo (well either a prop or another back rower)? This will maybe change GH n BC's thoughts on who they can bring in?

Since coming back from injury he doesn’t seem the player that he was and the decision to retire at the end of the season is a right one. Still I recon he’s probably got a few more tricks up his sleeve yet before his rugby league career draws curtains.

I heard a rumour about Scott Donald departing at the end of this season BEFORE it was announced he'd agreed to a one year extension. And yes, I am aware of rumours surrounding McClennan's departure during the coming off season. Thank goodness he's AGREED to a one year extension, eh?
