I can't help thinking that the old maxim of 'one season too few rather than one season too many' could/should have been applied when Donald's contract was up for renewal last season. There is a certain irony that the player who may have taken his place in the squad was the one making the tackle on Friday that inadvertently caused the injury.

There's also a certain irony that the player making the tackle did nothing else of note in the game to make anyone think he was a better prospect than Donald, despite some moron crediting him with Talau's try.

Or taking an optimistic view, not like me I know, the evolution or transition into the next great era?
I always understood that the time to change or develop new products is when the existing successful ones are still at the top, surely a sports club should be no different.
It may pain some on here but look at how Man U have got rid of winning players & replaced them with as good or arguably better ones to continued success.
Sentiment in sport is the enemy. Stagnation not change brings teams down.

Broughton will have his work cut out looking good in that particular outfit but his stats lost nothing in comparison to his opponents on the night.

Any serious injury is a real shame - Scott has been a very good signing - better than many thought - me included.

I wouldn't think of recalling BJB at all yet. If Delaney's back (this week or next) then Watkins will get an extended run - even if on the wing. If Delaney is out for longer then Coady would get a shot. I'd only think of recalling BJB if Webb was out TBH, as the experience he'll be getting at full back for Quins is far better than the odd game on the wing for us.

I'd say it depends on how near to full fitness Delaney is. Donald is gone for twelve weeks according to yesterday's report. Watkins has already played three of the four games this season as cover for Webb and Delaney as Leeds' in house, graded, spare outside back. I'd also like to see Coady used (as I haven't seen him thus far) but the coaching staff may see his exposure to SL further down the track for the work-in-progress.

Jones-Bishop is both SL ready and SL experienced.

I cannot take much more of this. The club is falling apart. Any more bad news and my head will explode.
