The end of Cheese is pretty much my favourite moment of the whole 60 episodes. (Although a few of Omar's scenes come pretty damn close).
BTW did you know that The Wire is the favourite TV show of the President of America and Omar is his favourite character...bet his predecessor wouldn't have lasted 10mins of episode one.

| Speaking as a fan of the Sopranos, I've still got to say: Wire first, daylight second.

I wouldn't for a minute have expected you to be able to cope with a program as intellectual (and morally) challenging as The Wire. Thankfully HBO make telly like that for the minority and you can stick to Big Brother 27.'"
Cheers, I will.

| Wife has just finished watching Season 1 of True Blood. When she started watching it, I said I wasn't interested in watching.
I have now found out there is lots of nudity involving pretty vampire babes...
...Now why didn't she tell me that a few months ago?????
Lock the door and take the phone of the hook...I've 12 or so episodes to watch

| The Wire is fantastic, the best TV show I've ever seen. I've been looking for something else to get into, what's The Shield like compared to The Wire? I remember Charlie Brooker raving about it on Screenwipe.

I'd strongly recommend the shield but its not an easy to compare to The Wire. The Shield is a roller-coaster from the very first episode to the last.
The shield is excellent at what it does and one of the best things about it is it's very skewed moral compass.
For me, The Wire is the greatest show ever for its scope, intelligence and complexity. The Shield on the other hand is one of the most enjoyable shows ever as it's relentless and really keeps you on the edge of your seat (just don't expect it to be The Wire, or you'll be massively disapointed).
The Shield also has some brilliant guest stars - Series 5 & 6 with Forrest Whitaker were the best part of the show IMHO (but as with the Wire don't try and dip in half way through).
(The good news is that the Shield DVD box sets are dirt cheap on t'internet...I think I got them for less than a tenner a piece)

| Omar is by far the best character - the scene from the courtroom in series 1 when the lawyer defending Avon suggests he is making a living out drug dealing and Omar just turns the comment back on him!!
What amazes me is the fact that both Stringer Bell and McNulty are both British

'" I watched season one and two of the shield when it was first shown over here and enjoyed it.
Then I stopped watching as much telly.

Dukes Of Hazzard would be my guess for Dubya.

I can see where you're coming from but I think you're over-estimating him.
