I grew up near Newport
, got out as fast as I could! It was indeed reported as the most dangerous place in GB a few years back, but don't worry, things have only got worse since then. It's a hole of the first degree.
The ground is just a few minutes walk from both the town centre (sic) and the train station. (Come out of the main doors, turn left and follow the road really). There are a couple of pubs en route, although enter at your own risk really.
The ground used to have quite a good supporters bar, similar to the FAE, but I''m not sure if it's still there.
There are a fair number of RL fans in the area though and, being Welsh, they wont travel far, so they could swell the crowd, although they do tend to be St Helens and Wigan fans.
My nephew will be there - he's a Rhinos fan - he will show you all the "sights" if you really want to see them!
Honestly, I would drive there and back in a day from Leeds. The thought of staying over a night fills me with dread even now, 20 years after leaving this god forsaken end of the world and on a bit further dump.
Trust me, Bradford is nice when compared to Newport.
