It looked pretty well populated to me. Not full but I’d probably say 3/4’s full.

There was no availability for anything other than single tickets during the week. And this is what it looked like 5 mins before kick off -
Wishing stuff to be true to fit your argument does not mean they are true.

Do we? If it were an elite sport it would pay elite wages, play in elite stadiums and attract elite crowds. You can't just charge elite prices and claim the sport is elite
Elitist is what it is!

| I thought all areas of the ground looked busy with the exception of the mainly closed north stand. What was the attendance?

It was virtually full. There was just the typical patches of empty seats you always get even when it's "sold out", as it eventually was by kick off on Friday. I swear people buy season tickets then forget about it in that stand

The atmosphere was awful. I'm sure they were trying in the South Stand, but all I could hear was a trumpet every now and then.

Yep, people saying atmosphere at elland road was better well it would be with a 3/0 win bet if it was a 3-0 loss it would gave been just as dull.
If some people think theit money is better spent at Elland road and do not want to pay unless it's under £20 then see you don’t bother coming back if you only want to come for glory.

| Except businesses need both regular and occasional customers so we can’t really take that approach.
There will have been careful scenario planning with estimates based on different attendances at different prices. GH has had a pint where he thinks they can make the most profit, but that’s also largely dependent on the product on the pitch too.
It’s a careful balance with many variables, if the team improves then attendances will be higher, poor performances or results and attendances will decline. Just goes to prove people come for the rugby not the stadium.

Agreed, you'd get 15,000 in a shed if Leeds were spanking everyone every week.
It's a multi-faceted business though isn't it: the improved facilities are an investment in the next 50 years or so. They help us attract, in theory, better players, better sponsors, international fixtures (which help raise the profile of the venue and the brand, helping with better players and sponsors..). Better options for revenue with hospitality and catering.
Getting it right on the pitch is far more variable, and much harder to control. Being probably the richest and best-organised club in England doesn't automatically guarantee sporting success, as some fans seem to expect.
Our current side (and particularly last year) reminds me a little of this classic 1996 team, for those that remember! Except we don't have a tough core to the pack (a la McDermott, Newton, Morley, Mercer). Probably 5/6 players in there that you would put into a truly competitive side.
Leeds: St Hilaire, Golden, Iro, Bell, Hassan, Kemp, Holroyd, Mercer, Shaw, McDermott, Newton, Morley, Hulme. Subs Hughes, Field, Fozzard, Tuipulotu.

Agree 100% you come to watch the rugby first, where you then sit or stand is out of preference. If the rugby is dross watch the crowds go down. Speaking to GH after the match on Friday he is happy with the corporate side they have sold over 1800 seats (per game) in the various suites and the private boxes on top of that figure, these have been committed for the full season in advance. Once the North stand opens fully in May 2019 this will release more south stand seats, all we need now is for the team to perform.

If we can keep it all together, that Academy side coming through will be great to watch in the spanky new stadium.
