That isn't about rating players etc. It's simply stating a fact. I want Leeds to be as successful with Buderus as we were with Diskin. Therefore, Buderus will need to win 4 championships, nes pas?

I know how Leeds fans are passionately in love with Aussie legend Buderus but you don't have to spring to your hero's defence when I haven't even attacked him.

1. Buderus - dominated the ruck area, strong defence and got the whole pack going forward plus his own runs from the PTB and classy pass for the Hauraki try

2. Burrow - always an attacking threat to Hull who didn't know if he was going to run at them, pass or kick.

3. = Burgess, Kylie, Delaney, BJB & Sinfield

Closely follwed by the rest in a very good team performance considering the injuries.

Like Batley you should re-read what I put and think again before you leap to your hero's defence needlessly.

Not in this country or at MY club he hasn't.

He was excellent, it was like watching a young Diskin.

Gareth your defense of Diskin is admirable but misguided in my view - Diskin was instrumental in the win in 2004 but lucky to be in a great side in 2007/8/9 when he was a pale shadow of the player he was in 2004. Would we have won in 2004 without Diskin doubtful - would we have won 07-09 definitely

To compare his qualities to that of one the finest players in that position in the SL/NRL era is weak at best.

Yes I can read thanks. I can also remember reading plenty of posts from you over the last two years where you were very clear (as above also) that until Buderus had matched Diskin's medal achievements for Leeds you would consider his contribution to be less than that of your Dewsbury based hero.

You also pointed out on a number of occasions that Leeds won 4 championships with Diskin in the squad, which should (rightly to some extent) give him "Legend" status. Buderus hasn't been (and I suspect won't be) with Leeds for long enough to reach 4 championships so your point above is a little "pointless" I would say.

The reason I raised the issue of Kirke and Jones is to highlight how simplistic your point has been, especially given your ridicule of Kirke on countless occasions.

We were lucky to have Diskin in 09 when Buderus went down with a broken leg and Diskin got to play the lions share each game we didn't lose another game. Diskin had a fine game in the 09 final. Diskin played a full role in all of our wins and it's what get my goat the most about our fans that they would be so dismissive of his achievements and yet hero worship someone who has achieved nothing of note with us yet.


I've stated above I have no interest in the NRL. To describe Buderus, after roughly 50 games, as one of the finest players in SL is worse than weak. It's hero worship at it's worst. Besides, I repeat, I did not compare Diskin and Buderus qualities. I, again, invite you to re-read what I wrote.

I'd have thought that would be fairly obvious. This isn't tennis you know. We're not paying to watch Buderus skills. We're paying to watch Leeds RLFC. Until or unless Buderus has contributed as much as Diskin then it's not rocket science to say he hasn't contributed as much as Diskin. DD'urgh! That is NOT comparing individual player's abilities.
This is his third season. I believe he is contracted for next year as well. OK, I'll scale it back a bit. He could help us get 25% of the amount of titles Diskin has and I'll start to worship him as much as everyone else.

Hasn't Buderus already got one SL winners ring for the 2009 season? The Grand Final is the culmination of a season long effort, which both Diskin and Buderus contributed to. While Buderus obviously didn't appear in the play-offs or Grand Final he was still instrumental in the season long team effort to get there.

Last week and last night Buderus has finally been allowed to show his true worth. A classic case of 'mis-management' from those in charge of team recruitment and selection at Headingley. If they wanted to run a two hooker system at Leeds they signed the wrong one in Buderus. Even two year olds eventually realise you can't put a square peg in a round hole no matter what you hit it with.

Think I'll email Sky and ask them if Stevo and Wiggy could cut back on the fulsome praise of Buderus and Delaney, as it's simply providing opportunities for cruel taunting of those who are a little bit slow in appreciating what an individual can contribute to a 17 man squad......
