That must be 'we' as in Leeds RL as it isn't an experience any of the current playing squad have endured. Extending that thought to the coaches, Cummins may have been on junior forms though as a just turned sweet sixteen.

maybe he meant top of the table after two games? have we lost our third game of the season recently
or could be a missing comma?

I think he may be mixing up our reasonably occasional SL victories at Headingley with games at BV. Some have been very close but no cigar.
In 1992 I was 29 I'm now 46!!! A whole generation has come along since we last beat you at BV, and tbh I can't see that changing. Like death and taxes it's seems almost inevitable.

| This should be a cracking game - provided Child can keep control
Wakey look like they a serious pack and some nimble half backs - looking forward to it - snow permitting
One thing is for sure the pitch will be better than the cow field at Headingley

| It is the best pitch in SL for me by a mile... they might even take the grass with them to Stanley!

Leeds did start 2007 like that but they weren't top as Bradford had a superior points difference.
Likewise 2006 but this time Leeds were 4th on points difference (behind St Helens, Hull and Salford) after two rounds.
The last season that matches - top of the table after two and losing the third - was 2001, Burrow made his debut three weeks later.
In any case it'd be Wakefield rather that Leeds who would have to be on their mettle in that instance so I'm not sure I follow the logic of that possible interpretation.

Just discovered an issue with this Child referee.
Leeds have never won with him and Wakefield have never lost with him in the SL Regular Rounds.
Half his twelve outings have featured Celtic/Crusaders and the rest are typically top V bottom. The one time he was given a competitive looking match up was probably his debut between Wakefield and Les Catalans and he came close to losing control of that IIRC.

Do you think I should send my tickets back then and stay warm and possible dry?

| Never do that. I think it will be a step up in intensity for the 26 year old and it will be interesting to see if either side test him out and how he responds.

| I wonder if anyone has taken over the lease on that dodgy pub over the road from Belle Vue?

Rob Burrow was the captain in a pre season friendly at Belle Vue a few years ago. My kid sister was the mascot that night..
AFICR we did lose the game. Was on a weekday night.
Maybe that's what he is recalling.

As Wild said, still boarded up. Interestingly, the pub closest to the proposed new ground, the Spindle Tree, is also boarded up now... owners did a moonlight flit I understand!

Maybe. I don't record pre season friendlies, testimonials and such like as they are not classified as 1st grade fixtures for inclusion in any official records so the case you put forward is a plausible explanation.

That's a relief.
Can you pass on the news to the medical staff at Headingley now.
