what they don't have is tactical acumen as it's not needed in our game and we don't have a really top class coach. the last 3/4 England managers/coaches have been terrible choices. the list to take over is worse still'"
I disagree - which player in that team did a Sinfield or a Peacock and got stuck in with a view to influencing the outcome of the game?
Rooney was the supposed leader yet his technique is appalling, he basically gave up in the second half as did the rest of them. They have a goalie who is incapable of an error free game - Kane has the touch of a sledge hammer. Why did he play a left footed player on the right wing? etc.
The English game is a joke - the standard of the players is appalling given how many people we have playing the game and the amount of money available to support it - Hodgson was on £3.5m!!
Get Billic on board.

Why is it that you have to add the word caring to describe yourself? Is it to distance yourself from the uncaring socialists?
Ok then which University do you work in and in what capacity?

having no leaders is different from not having good quality players as the rhinos have found out this year. every team, for some odd reason has wrong footed players on the flanks. seems strange to me as it makes the pitch narrower

Changing England manager is proper deckchairs on the Titanic stuff.
You could put the ghost of Alf Ramsey in charge and it wouldn't make a difference. We fall down right from the time we make 10 year olds play on full size pitches with full size balls in the middle of winter.
Technique in most sports is basically muscle memory. You practice skills over and over until they become ingrained in your body and you can reproduce them under pressure without having to think. The younger you start working on technique, the more chance there is of it becoming second nature.
Instead, we have a youth game which values being able to run all day and not being scared to put your foot in ahead of what you can actually do with the ball. Players come through youth systems who are athletes first, footballers second. The likes of Walcott and Sterling have made multi-million pound careers out of basically being quick over ten yards.
When we come up against teams who sit deep and don't leave space in behind, that pace advantage is negated and they become ineffective. Daniel Sturridge has a right foot that he can barely use to stand on, let alone control the ball with. Yet he's considered one of the best strikers in England. As a result, some pretty mediocre footballers (in the global scheme of things) are making ridiculous livings off the back of Sky Sports subscribers and advertisers.
Until the focus shifts from producing players who can "put in a shift" to developing players who are comfortable with the ball at their feet, England will continue to suffer disappointment after disappointment in major tournaments while Sky continue to hype the Premier League as the "best league in the world".

God you do talk some rubbish!
The players can do it for their clubs, so the problem is either with the manager or mentality in camp
We used to have Gerrard Beckham Terry and Ferdinand in the same team but still failed, so leaders is not the issue
Joe Hart can seem to get through plenty of games without mistakes against better opposition in the champions league
Kane has the touch of a sledgehammer but scored 25 perm goals this year? then how many goals would he score if he improved it? 40 a season?

I agree regarding lack of heart and desire. Rashford only got a cameo and I thought Vardy tried when he came on but the horse had already bolted for the rest of the team.
Ability wise they obviously aren't as good as some like the Germans and Spainish but they were better than the teams we did face. The problem last night was that they were mentally weak. The first half was poor, the second dreadful. They came out in the 2nd half looking like rabbits caught in the headlights terrified at the thought of the stick they'd get if they lost, even though they still could've saved it at that point.
If Southgate is appointed nothing will change. An FA yes man already in the setup who use to coach Middlesboro....we were there before with McLaren.

| Jean-Claude Juncker is on his feet addressing the European Parliament now and has said there will be no preliminary, informal discussions between the EU and UK representatives prior to triggering article 50.
No secret negotiations, he's said it three times now.

That's a good point. Caring should automatically be in the JD of a socialist. Which might explain supposed socialists switching to UKIP.

If you are very interested I will PM you, but as I am supposed to be working for them as I am typing this it's best I do not publicise it. There are a handful on here who I am quite fond of who know me.

Although I agree there is not much room to trim from 0.5%, there appears a fair chance we could see a nudge down to 0.375% or 0.25% before Santa comes.

Colleges are Further Education, as TT has pointed out - not a distinction open to interpretation. If you need my credentials I'm a lecturer at a Russell Group University in the south-west
