| For those wishing Flanagan...whilst he did win Cronulla the comp (very Tony Smith) he was criticised a lot for a very dour style. He also presided over a supplements programme that potentially put players at risk and was enitrely against anti-doping rules. He then - rightly - got a ban from coaching, only to blatantly breach it almost from day one of his suspension. I'm not saying don't go for him, but he's not the messiah.
Regardless, now is the time when the management have to back the coach. If its right that Furner wanted some players out that GH and co wanted to keep, why would they react any differently if a new coach tells them the same thing? The evidence is clear that a number of our 'senior' squad are either not up to it or only play when they want to. They need to be got rid of regardless.

| I don't necessarily think it was a case of Furner wanting rid of players whilst KS and GH didn't want to get rid. I just think Furner expected to be to get rid of some of them far sooner than was possible.
It's clear to me that this is more than just poor results, the spirit and confidence in the dressing room is nonexistent.

| If we go for a British option, I reckon Ian Watson would be a great choice.

| It didn't look right though a group of players told the club wanted them to leave and to add insult to injury it was all printed in the local news paper.

| Kev claims to not know who the new coach will be, he’s not in a rush apparently.
God help us if Richard Agar has the reins until the end of the season. I’d rather have Wane and that’s saying something...

| I’d like to see Tony Smith back until the end of the season. He turned us around last time, won our first Super League and performed miracles with emerging talent. He left Leeds on reasonably good terms and while not Brilliantly successful at Warrington he did coach them to silverware.
If he pulls us out of the mire and gets us a top six finish then we have to consider a longer contract.
I don’t think that Wane would be well received.

| Let's hope whoever comes in is allowed to bring their own backroom staff, assistants and conditioners. We need to do this properly and not half assed like last time.
Also someone without any existing links/loyalties to any of the current squad. A fresh outlook is vital.

| I quite like the idea of Tony Smith as well. I'd prefer him to Shaun Wane, as I'm not sure Wane's recipe would work at Leeds given it probably hinged a lot on pride of playing for Wigan. The other reason I'd quite like Smith is because I genuinely feel he adds to the sport and its a shame he isn't already coaching somebody.

I only had the argument last week that relegation is not something going to happen, simply because I had every confidence Furner would do enough to pull us well clear of London and Hull KR. Without a coach, and Agar as interim, that confidence is seriously dented, and could really move the goalposts.

| If we go English how about Paul Anderson. He has a point to prove and no one can say that the squad is poor it’s just that they aren’t playing like a team. Anderson did a lot at Huddersfield with limited talent available
