| Watkins has shown Leeds a huge amount of loyalty over the years, he's previously turned down huge offers from Warrington and the NRL to stay at Leeds, and despite criticism of his captaincy by fans, it seems that the players and coaches think differently.
I can understand Leeds' thinking, but at the same time, if they agreed what's being reported then I think they should honour it or allow him to leave. This doesn't reflect well on the club IMO.

We simply can't give a marquee contract to any player who's at Kallum's current performance level, however badly it reflects on the club.

| If it was included in his contract, then they don't have much choice. Either honour it, or let him leave.

| Quote Jake the Peg="Jake the Peg"Maybe this is a leak from inside the club to put pressure on Watkins if they want him to take a reduced contract but legally they don't have a leg to stand on if this is part of his current deal and doesn't exactly make Leeds an attractive proposition for new players if they try to renege on deals mid contract'"
Im pretty sure Leeds will know where they stand legally.
On this seasons form, Watkins dosnt warrent a first team shirt, never mind marquee money, the reasons are massively unfortunate for him and i feel for him, but thats where we are. If Leeds can get out of any rumoured agreement that gives Watkins marquee money, they should, if not, we'l hope he finds his form again and good for him for maxmizing his earning potential. If he can get a deal elsewhere that he's happier with, then let him take it.
Iv already seen some opposition fans outraged by Leeds rumoured actions, pretending that theyd want there club to honuor such a deal to a massively underperforming player, likely the same people who'v been laughing at watkins performances all year and even longer in some cases. This suggests they know Leeds are doing whats best for Leeds...If the storys true.

| One thing is for sure - Sinfield has a hell of a job on his hands.

| If we (the fans) are wanting a proper clear out and rebuild, we are going to have to accept the club being ruthless.
I like Watkins and he was truly a world class player and I personally think he can get back to somewhere near his best but we as a club Need to do what is best for the club, from all the rumours it does seem like Sinfield is prepared to be ruthless and isn’t that what we have all wanted for the last couple of years?
Newman and Broadbent are the future for us and to be honest I’d be happy for Bewman and Hurrell to be our first choice centres for next year.
If Watkins can get a gig in the NRL we would be mad to not let him go.
I think Sinfields strategy is to have a mix of our youngsters and some quality experience. I would be dangling the carrot of the captaincy to Merrin for next year

| If the reports are true then I don't know how Watkins can retain the captaincy for Wakefield next week.

| He's won multiple trophies, become captain, become one of the best centres in the game, I'd say he's more than fulfilled his potential

| If he can get more money elsewhere at this point in his career, I’d wish him all the best.
Going to the NRL, if he could get a deal, before his form has returned would be silly. I suspect this is agent talk but who knows.
A move to somewhere like Salford could make sense, hometown club.
All we can do is watch the “Blue Wedding” unfold and see who’s left standing at the end. I imagine Sinfield has various new players lined up and is trying to create budget.
