| Quote: Clearwing "Shown up by Radford? This is one of the biggest urban myths out there. Radford had a few digs at an unprotected Bailey and missed with every single one. He was then shown a red card for his trouble in a game that Leeds went on to win at a stroll. Incident's here
Bailey deliberately was throwing elbows about at Radford's head (who was unprotected by the way and Bailey lands 3-4 point of elbow shots to the top of Radford's head). You can tell because Fitzgibbon had charged out of the line to shot Bailey (Fitzgibbon tries the shot and his arms hit the shoulders/back of Bailey) and Bailey thought Fitzgibbon had ended up on his legs so targeted that player unnecessarily with elbows. Turned out to be Radford. Who doesn't miss with every single one because the one he does land cuts Bailey open.
Then when Buderus hugs Radford to get him away about 7-8 players (including Buderus, Long, Senior and Leuluai get between Radford to break it up). Radford is restrained by all these players and Bailey tries a cheap shot over the top, gets pushed away by Senior and then held by Delaney, Hall's holding Long away from it all and Bailey throws himself over Halls' arms and throws a headbutt at Long in the process throwing Delaney away who restrains him again whilst Long laughs and has that look which says "What are you doing?". Bailey then pushes Delaney away and walks around the group of players and tries to get at Radford again (who is still restrained by a number of people) before he's taken away by the physio to get the cut looked at.
Yes I understand being a bit annoyed at someone having the audacity to try shot you, but no need for the elbows after and the 'acting hard'. Just get up and play the ball and get on with the game.

| Bailey is using his arms for momentum to try & get off the floor. They catch Radford who thinks Bailey did it deliberately. Radford has a few swings that don't really connect. I've no doubt, most would agree, that Radford would easily flatten Bailey in a proper scrap, but the rest is just hand bags. Even Bailey is not stupid enough to try & fight Radford while in a defenseless position.

| that Grand final against Warrington at one crucial stage of the game he had several Wire players chasing after him and losing concentration on what they were supposed to be doing. Pantomime villain yes , but very effective

I've never seen a player use their elbows that much when using momentum to get up. But lets say he does and Radford is in the wrong (didn't agree with the punching a player on the ground) it is the actions after which really annoy me. Radford acts like a normal rational person who's been in a bit of a tussle and lets it calm down where as Bailey tries to headbutt Long (absolutely disgusting, not as bad as biting, spitting and stamping but still on that mental level of thuggery). And then trying to hit a restrained player. To me that's not handbags. Purposely attempting a headbutt is just pure thuggish behaviour.
I do agree though on occasion he used it well to appear as a 'pantomime villain' at times and he was a good servant to the Rhinos in their glory years. But he's a thug. Done for brawling in the streets early in his career. Numerous drug and substance related incidents. And he was lucky he wasn't banned this time around. First ever player to not be banned for refusing a drugs test. Everything about him is just horrible. So I bloody hope he hasn't signed for us anyway

| Quote: Bulls Boy 2011 "I hope he hasn't either. Hmm, alleged drug user (have to put alleged these days), constantly looks for fights in a game and more often than not gets shown up (see Radford, Bateman), always tries to fight people smaller (again see Bateman, and when he realised Radford was restrained he tried to hit him, also tried to headbutt Long at the same time), From Queens RL, which anyone who knows amateur RL knows exactly what they are like.
From a huge RL perspective it is such a shame to see a player like this. From a young age he could have been one of the most feared props. Instead just a thuggish person. If he had gone down the Peacock route. Just got his head down, worked hard, cut all the pointless dirty tactics and only fought when he absolutely needed too he would have gained a lot more respect in the game and could have been a world beater.
There are worse? Who do you have in mind? I'd put Hock up there but in all fairness to him over the past few years (since his ban) he has cleaned up and just focused on his rugby. And personally I think Wigan and Leigh have done well with him in terms of saying if you aren't clean you are out that's it.'"
You paint a picture of a guy who threw away a chance at a great career, yet he has won more titles than your club has in its whole history

| The Radford clip shows Radford swinging at (and mostly missing) a prone player who is in no position to defend himself. Radford may be 'hard' but as a puncher he's shocking and if you used that clip alone as evidence, a coward to boot.

I'm not trying to paint a picture like that at all. And yes he has, a lot of your players have. Ian Kirke for example A lot of that is down to the true greats you had/have rather than him being a main factor. But fair is fair, he's won a hell of a lot. Like Karl Pryce for us. Could have been so much more.
What I said was he could have been one of the best. How many caps did he get? If he got his head down and focused on being the hard running prop forward instead of all the off field stuff and the on field crap then he could have been a world beater. Playing for England every year and could have been giving it to the Aussies with Peacock. The same could be said for Hock. Although Bailey was lucky to have a quality side around him for such a long time. Even Leeds fans must see that he could have been better?
It just shows with his recent sacking that he's an idiot. And as I said before I hope the rumors of him coming to us are not true.

He was never man of the match in a final but he never let anyone down either and we would not have got to the 2012 final without his exceptional performance against Catalan in the playoffs.
He probably could have been better but so could a lot of players and I don't think he ever had the potential to be as good as Peacock or Morely or Graham so don't think he would have got too many more caps anyway.

| Apart from the Julian O'Neill one at Widnes one year has anyone ever seen Bailey win a fight??? I think I saw every game he played for Leeds and I always thought he was soft but as others have said he was very effective at putting opponents off their game and he never let Leeds down.

Probably but Bailey and Leeds would still have walked away with the W so would Bailey have cared.
He was there to put people off their game and he did it regularly.

Agreed. I fancied us doing you that game until the red.

No-one's argued otherwise. However, the fact remains that Radford had an entire career to eat Bailey for breakfast and failed to do so, not least during the incident in question. Which, incidentally, still appears to be giving certain FC fans numb nuts.

| there have been lots of players who have been regarded as characters throughout the history of the club and these players are remembered and talked about as much as the stars of the club. Bailey is one of those players .A character that will be remembered and talked about
