| Surprised he's not in the squad on Sunday as I think he's better than Newman on the wing or at least deserves a place in the 19.
Thought he played well in his last game too.
But let's see how the others perform Sunday before I jump to any conclusions.

I've an uneasy feeling - because I like Golding - that even in the event of Walker getting injured, the likes of Sutcliffe might get the gig. May depend on how great the determination is to shift him on perhaps.

| On purely a personal note I would sooner we looked to offload Sutcliffe.
He has had chance after chance in every position in the side and still can't cement a place.
I also think there would be more chance of Sutcliffe finding a club than Golding.
And yes I'm biased!

| I think some posters are misreading the situation regarding Golding. After the last game he was one of only 4 players selected for a special mention by Furner who has now seen him play well on both the wing and at fullback.
He now needs to see others perform which is the object of these friendlies. My guess is that Golding has impressed the new coach and will feature quite a lot this year

I'm not so sure. He's playing at Fev with Walters, Mullalley etc even when both Briscoes are out injured. That doesn't bode well for him.

I think he'll feature only if the shop window exercise you've described doesn't pull in any takers.

| thing is, he's a good player. but walker is better.
in a salary capped sport unless he can find another position you can't afford him as merely a back up.
also he needs to be playing. he's too good to be sat in the stands

Players need to stay match fit and should be playing every week. We have a new coach who will want to see all his squad in real match action. So selection in friendlies cannot be taken as who is in and who is out.
If Walkers gets injured against Cas who do you think will start at fullback against Warrington?

If Golding was seen as anywhere near 1st choice 17 he'd be in the squad for tomorrows game he isnt so that says plenty.

| I really hope Golding stays, in what position I don't really know though. I would not expect to see Walters,Ormondroyd or Mullally anywhere near the starting 17 though.
