| I think he should be given a testmonial anyway, no matter how long he's been at Leeds purely for the comedy value of watching half the Warrington players chase him round Old Trafford at the end of the Grand Final !!

Probably an iconic example of Ryan Baileys unorthodox contribution to the team effort.

It may be a full team, however I think Hunslet would give the team a better warm up than the Broncos squad at present.

| Those with a spirit of mischief might suggest that picking the weakest team in SL as testimonial opponents is Classic Bailey...

| Since 2004 there has more or less been a testimonial just about every year and most of them are still playing. So if the testimonial was left till the end of their careers they would be drwaing their state pension

| Were the club to pay a lump sum into a player's testimonial kitty, would that constitute a breach of salary cap regulations?

| As mentioned earlier, I think Ablett's will be next, then Kirke in 2016/17, then Hall, then there's Watkins & Jones-Bishop not long after. Assuming they all stay of course. But it's not unreasonable to suggest they might.
As for paying a lump sum, I think that would count on the salary cap.
As far as I understand it in general the money a player receives from a Testimonial is excluded from the salary cap. But that money has to come from testimonial events (friendly games, poker nights etc) and not as a direct payment from the club. AFAIK if a club did that then that money would be counted on the salary cap.

Possibly also the reason why an "outside" testimonial fund manager is always appointed while the club management stay a bargepole's length away.
