Thanks for that. I don't keep the penalty count religiously as it were so there's always liable to be the odd gap here and there but that will do nicely.

| Quote: DISA "Not so sure there is too much they can do in that regards.
I dont want to sound paranoid, but a typical example was last night.
Bradford were in the Leeds half, and were playing the ball 8 meters inside the half way line, 2 metres short of the 40 line. Leeds were lined up clearly on the replay on the 30 metre line. You dont have to be good at Maths to work out that is 12 metres back. 10 metres to be onside, yet Leeds were penalised for offiside.
I have no doubt a couple of players stepped in front of Smith, but they were clearly taken 12 metres back, not 10. Yet penalized.
Oh and anothe penatly was for the technicality of the Burrow no try. I need clarification on this, but I was told by a nerdy nut at my gym this morning who has databases on all this poop, that the last time on his records that that offence was pulled was in 1982.
Like I said, dont want to sound paranoid, but I dont see what the players can do to stop those two examples.'"
Hurts when it happens to you for a change, doesn't it? And yes, as I'm sure you would have told us had the positions been reversed (as has been the case all too often of late), you DO sound paranoid...

I cant argue if you are saying the lines are not 10 metres. But in scale to what the lines were meant to be it was 12 metres.
I presume the officials look to the lines though, and if so Smith got that one badly wrong.

In the interest of fairness, Bradford's pitch is now only a couple of metres or so short of the full 100m - it was extended several years ago. It is also pretty wide.

Hang on a minute Adey. I am not talking specifically about last night in the whole. I have not mentioned the silly video ref desions, hopefully that will be put to bed and it finally puts behind us Millenium Magic.
Whas I was sepcifically talking about was Leeds discipline, and the conceeding of penalties. I pointed out two specific incidents last night that were wrong, as an example as to, how can the players improve that.

They should bring back the upturned corners...

Was Smith one sided in his officiating?
It generally didn't appear that way to me. More analysis is needed if you want to give a balanced view based on the whole 80 minutes rather than a one-sided snapshot taken here and there.
Ask your mate at the gym it sounds like he'd know.

Sorry then - I misunderstood - assumed from what you said that you were on about "biased" referees, in the mould of Bradford fans over recent years!
One thing I noted from the replay - you had the timing of coming off the completed tackle down to perfection. Two seconds (almost aways) after Smith shouted "held", he shouted "move!". Pretty well always three seconds after that, your guys moved. To the nanosecond. Every time. About one nanosecond short of ranking for a penalty. I said elsewhere that that is something we should learn from, cos your discipline there seemed superb.

In answer to your question, yes I would say he was one sided, in relation to the offiside ruling, and a fair 10 metres.
However that is irrelevant. What I was asking is, pointing out the specific decision last night about 4 minutes into second half. How can the players stop that from happening in the future? Other than going even further than 12 metres back which would be stupid.
And its not the first time this season, it happend twice at Hull KR earlier in the season. Pulled for offiside despite been more than the required 10 metres back.

And Smith never pinged Bradford in the exact same way at any time during the 80 minutes?
Not according to the Sky Sports coverage unless my ears were deceiving me when Clarke made the self same comment you've just made only with the boot firmly on the other foot.

We still have nearly the same 13 that 3 years ago would have blown that rather average bradford team off the park last night. Its as though McClennan is trying to get the team to play his style of rugby league which lets be honest aint working. Last night for example we threw the ball about like the leeds we know and twice bradford couldnt get near us.

| I'm not impressed with the way Leeds are playing at the moment. OK the defence is good, everyone works together there but on attack, it is just individual stuff we rely on. We seem to wait for Burrow to find a gap, Webb to back up or an offload from Ali or JP!
I pose the question, what do Leeds do in training apart from weights and fitness!?
There is no cohesion and no dummy runners! That is why we lost to Saints and Manly (we lost to Bradford because of a dubious video ref though!)

I think you are getting mixed up tvoc, with regards ref bashing and Leeds discipline.
The issue here, which you raised was about Leeds discipline, and the penalties conceeded. I agree it is a concern.
My point was what can the players do to stop a panalty been given, when it is clearly wrong. Whether the oppossition suffered the same fate is irrelevant. The fact is that all Leeds can do is play to the letter of the laws. Leeds got penalised for an offiside last night, that clearly was not offside. Therefore I ask again. Other than going back further than 12 metres which is stupid, what can the players do to stop that in the future?
And by the way tvoc. Your are wrong about what Phil Clarke mentioned incident. What he clearly stated was NOT that Bradford were not offisde, but that none of the offside players interfered with play. Well wuppydoo, that happens almost all occassions offsides are pulled.

| Back on thread…
We have been poor all season but our fundamental 1 to 13 has barely changed since Smith left which would indicate our slump in form is down to the change in coaching personnel?
To call for Buley’s head on plate is a little premature to say the least – if (and it is a big IF) our form continues to dip through the remainder of the season then there may be issues with the current coaching staff that need addressing but we’re still second in the league even though we’re playing poorly.
No need to hit the panic button quite yet.
