| Featherstone would have a heck of a job staying up with their resource base if they got promoted. It would certainly complicate matters for Leeds with dual reg and Ryan Carr... who I would like to see retained at Leeds somehow next year.
Golding looks like he’s heading for Hudds and we would retain McLelland anyway.
Fully expect Toronto to win but stranger things have happened and you’ve got to admire Fev for what they’ve done this year.

| Did we see the Toronto effect on Toulouse last night? Full marks to Fev tho but i csnt see them winning in Toronto next week even though they are bang in form and playing with a lot of confidence.

| I thought the Toulouse v Fev game last night was a cracker and the form they are in they should't be fearing anyone. I think the MPG will be a cracker, quite possibly better than the GF

We'd still probably want to carry 3 halves to cover for injury and form - McLelland makes huge sense as the third half at the moment.
I wouldn't hesitate to play him when needed though.

| I missed the Fev game this weekend.
How did the Leeds lads get on?
Whilst they are massive underdogs it has been a great achievement to get to the Final which in my opinion should have been played as the curtain raiser to the SLGF or at least on a neutral ground.
Who would have thought Fev and Salford would be in the position they are in at the business end of this season?

Fev fan here...McLelland had another good game. I honestly can't remember a player making such big strides in terms of how confident he looks in such a short space of time. He looked a bit lost - unsurprisingly of course - in his first few games for Fev, but has really found his niche and looks polished and a threat whenever he gets the ball, and his kicking game has been good. Helps that he has had an in-form Chisholm on the other side doing his thing to take the pressure off. Also a massive plus is that he has been playing on the "difficult" right hand side, always harder to find a half that can excel on that side.
Sutcliffe was a bit quieter than previous weeks but again he has benefitted massively from the extended game time at Fev this season. He's another very good advert for the DR agreement between Leeds and Fev, I suspect some Leeds fans barely knew he was even in their squad earlier this season as he would have been miles from the first team but he's really made a name for himself. I'd love to see him for another year at Fev, on loan if necessary, as I think his long-term future is at edge back row, but suspect he'll be a fringe Leeds 1st teamer next year.
Golding has never put a foot wrong at Fev, it was noticeable Toulouse didn't want to kick to him on Sunday, not because he's a massive attacking threat but he just never makes a mistake. I get that he might not be the attacking threat that you want at full back in an ambitious SL team but what a likeable player he is, sounds like he's off to Huddersfield and as a Fev fan that's understandable but disappointing as he so clealry bought into everything at Fev.
Albert has done ok for us, he's still so raw and I don't think he's near to being a genuine SL player right now, but the defensive errors in his first few games for us haven't been so apparent in his last few games. It's still hold your breath time when he takes a carry in yardage sets as his first instinct is still to offload (cost us a crucial try in a league game a few weeks ago) but hopefully he'll learn!

Agree fully. From the few Fev games I've seen on TV - and Phantom Horseman's comments seem to back this up - he already seems a very decent quality half at Championship level. Clearly he's coming on in leaps and bounds so for me it's important to continue that development by making sure he gets decent game time at SL level. I don't think for a minute he should be over-played (except maybe in an emergency) but I'd have no problem were Gale to be rested at certain points in order to continue that development - and that's regardless of how well Gale's playing.

| Our bench will be interesting next year with so many young lads looking to get into the first team. You would think Johnson and Dwyer will have a place in the 17.
Two props, and then one other for second row/ backs cover. Will we play McLelland in reserves or on loan again?
Hope Fev go well but can see Toronto nailing this one - Brian Mac with a big game, I reckon he’ll guide them home and it will be a game too far for Fev. But the whole team have been great value and well done to them - and of course upsets do happen!

Cheers mate and thank you for the lowdown.
I`m really pleased for you guys as I worked with a mad keen Fev supporter and know he will be over the moon with you getting to the final.
As my fellow southstanders will know I`m a massive Golding fan and would have in back at Leeds without doubt. Even though those who appear to have more expertise in the game think Walker is head and shoulders above Ash I feel there`s a place in our squad.
I do think McLelland has improved from his earlier stint and can only get better.
Sutcliffe is one I`m not too sure on but at least he is giving his all and gaining in experience.
Good luck against Toronto.

For me he just lacks that degree of body flexibility that you need in a top-class SL centre, he's a good straight-line runner and tackler but perhaps not the most natural passer of the ball, that's why I think his future might lie in the back row.
Interesting piece in the YEP on Sutcliffe and the other DRs.

Well you're right and it's not just about being an SL centre, at Leeds we should have top centres. Hurrell, Newman, Broadbent are going to be tough to get past for a player like A Sutcliffe in reality. There's more talent coming through too.

Young Sutty won me the 1st try scorer bet at 16/1. Great bit of awareness when they spilled the ball. Cheers Alex! As for Ash I think he needs 1st team rugby in SL. No disrespect to Fev but I think he can do a job at Huddersfield if he does go. Seen him in the bar interacting with the fans and he's a lovely lad. I hope he gets a good gig with somebody next year.
