| Yeh no problem with the grounding. Has control of ball when it finally hits ground.

| As some posters have pointed out on the VT, people seem to get confused by the issue of downward pressure which is actually only relevant to kicks etc.

| it was a try and i have no idea why there is even a debate about it. Try every day of every week in every month of every year.

| Some Leeds fans in denial here. Hall puts the ball down with his arm hairs. I'm not disputing that under the current rules it had to be given. But if we're looking at it objectively then it's come to something that we're awarding tries for that.

| The ball never separated from his hand, so it was a try.
There might also have been some argument that there were two sets of Saints hands in there trying to strip it which could have been a penalty try.
On such small margins these tight games are decided. Mind you to some Wiganers highlighted on another thread, it's all a giant conspiracy by the RFL. RFL bosses specifically controlled the bounce if the ball into Ryan Hall's hands against Hudds and then they used their special emergency powers to make 4 defenders fall off Hall as he was escorted to a he try line on Friday night.

So under your rules, you don't want tries given for players not dropping the ball?
Strange.

| I'm still lost at what alternative decision should have been given? Hall never lost the ball and it's on the floor. If it's not a try what is it?

Unless the RFL have changed interpretation in such instances a ball steal in order to prevent a try cannot result in a penalty try. IIRC it was a penalty try awarded to Leeds (Matt Diskin) at Odsal which led to the current thinking.

| Away from Hall's try. what about his attitude in going damage limitions for the percival try?
He drove and bust it up from the tap, got the ball stolen (fairly), Wilkin cleverly drew the play right to Hall's empty wing and Percvial strolled in. But Hall tracked back like hell to make sure he was left in the corner not strolling under posts. if he had done they'd have gone 2 scores up (due to an easy kick, thankfully Walsh missed the touchliner) and the outcome may have been different.
Positive try scores get the headlines but it's the stuff that's a little harder to notice that make the difference ultimately.
