Luke Ambler is a great player & has been very unfortunate with other players in front of him & playing well. Luke never stops running & coming for the ball - a really top class person & team player.
But perhaps
Luke? Is that you?

| I hope he does well but I just don't see him having a long term future at Leeds.
There are so many people in front of him for one of the prop spots and even Amor would be in front of him IF we decide to bring him back for next year. IIRC we have to make the decision to re-sign him for next year by this June/July or otherwise he stays at Wakey?
I'd like to see us bring Amor back for next year but assuming Peacock plays on and Bailey gets another deal (which should be nailed on) I reckon we are only losing Kylie in the props so again Amor has little or no chance of regular 1st team action at Leeds for the foreseeable given we've now got Griffin and Moore for 3 years

| BM is quoted as saying he sees Ambler as having a big future at Leeds. I'm sort of loathe to write off a young prop as well.

Can't see how. Saw Singleton in preseason, and just watched those highlights from the weekend, that kid looks so much like a James Graham. No matter what is age, or how many props we have, this lad is the one who should be top of the list in getting involved in first team games soon as.

| Agree Gotcha Singleton should be ahead of Ambler and IF we retain JP ,RB .Moore and Griffin i cant see Ambler staying not least becasue i think we will/should recall Amor plus Daniel Smith won't be far off a 1st team appearance imo.

Yeah, what does BMcD know, it's not as if he played prop for the then top club or anything.

He's a unit mind you all the youngsters seem to be of that ilk these days i got chance to speak to Stevie Ward after we'd played the Aussie team Harvey Howard brought over and close up he's another big lad.
I really think the club have some big calls coming up re-U20's forwards because imo we have some real potential pack monsters for the next decade or so.

| I think/hope we're being pretty sensible in our prop policy, the dominating factor of which is ultimately the JP succession.
Assume, because of injuries and suspensions, you need a five-prop cohort to cover four spaces on matchdays, with all probably getting even time over the season. Then you need a couple more who are happy to be in reserve but will still see quite a bit of gametime.
This year we have 1.JP 2. Bailey 3.Griffin 4. Leuluai, with Moore as 5 and Kirke and Singleton as 6 and 7
2013, Kylie leaves, maybe Kirke leaves, Amor returns: 1.JP 2.Bailey 3.Griffin 4/5. Amor/Moore 6.Singleton 7.Smith
2014, the end of JP, cabs move up the rank: 1.Bailey 2.Griffin 3.Amor 4/5 Singleton/Moore 6.Smith 7. Next good prospect
2015 Smith moves up to replace Moore, and so on.
There's not much space for Ambler there unless we don't sign up Amor.

lets hope this is true, would love to see Luke at Fax for at least this year! who knows after that. he seems keen too!

DR's can work (for both parties), we brought on Jacob Fairbank last year, he was one of our top performers and now hes in the hudds squad (they do have injuries fair enough!) but if he gets his chance and plays well hell keep his position.

I'd hope we're not planning on keeping Moore until 2014 to be honest. This is hypothetically great, but there is no promises as to wether Singleton or Smith will live up to potential, I can definitely see us signing a prop to replace Peacock when he retires.

| I'm not saying Ambler will be better than Singleton etc. I'm just saying there have been young big forwards we've let go who have gone on to be decent props - Fozzard, Anderson, Moore himself spring to mind.
As it stands I think the main danger we face down the road is having a logjam of average forwards around.

Your last sentence is too true. Which is exactly why you don't mess about holding back youngsters who look the part. You give them the opportunity. If they don't make the grade then, then they take a step back and you replace. But give it a go.

| I watched the U20s on the Leed site (BTW the quality is really poor, or it could be my eyesight but I thought all the Chemics lads had mullets - but now I THINK they have some kind of mark on the back of their shirts) and was impressed by the highlights TBH. I thought Leeds looked big and fast across the field. I couldn't really tell who was who apart from when they scored, although Ward stood out a bit.
