| Quote: Fax4Life "Yes we saw it we were above the fans (clowns) from both clubs or at least people wearing the clubs colours, it was football proper style crowd trouble and a proper fight, not nice and I have never seen anything like this in 30 years of going to CC Finals.
From a neutral fans view it was some Warrington fans goading some Leeds fans and after much provocation they reacted wrongly and it kicked off.
Sad, got to say Warrington fans have an over aggressive nature with us lot from Yorkshire singing stuff like Leeds scum and Yorkshire scum, football not RL.
It was a minority though but again never really had anything like this in all the years.'"
Absolute bullshine. I help you out with the facts.
A small group of Leeds fans, very drunk and abusive, were goading the Warrington fans around them which was ignored by the majority for a good part of the game. After Beer was constantly thrown the stewards were asked to get the Police and or remove them as tempers were being stretched. Just before the fight broke out one of the drunk Leeds fans threw a plastic container of Beer at a woman 4 rows in front which hit a young girl in the face. The male parent reacted badly and a fight broke out. Warrington fans should not have reacted the way they did and were as bad as the 2 instigators, but with the Stewards complete inability to react to a situation this could of been avoided.
I hope this helps [i'neutral fan'[/i

Two differing stories - guess the true lays somewhere in between, 6 of one an half a dozen of the other.

| The fight was just yards away from where I was sat. Ive been to 7 major finals in 5 years and never seen anything like that at a rugby game. I very nearly left the game early, but decided to stay to end & not let these thugs stop me watching my favorite sport. Rightly they all got booed & hopefully with good CCTV all will be caught & dealt with. Life bans for all. I refuse to call them fans, because real fans dont behave like that.

hey maybe I aint got the whole picture I go to watch game of RL not the crowd but I DO recall a not very nice Warrington fan giving a one finger to some Leeds fans after the first or second Warrington try in that section of the ground.
I thought at the time that was not very nice as he really did 'give them some' and he was not alone, now okay if these Leeds fans got silly as you say then fair do's I aint taking sides here and your sarcasm as to me being a neutral is not warranted - neutral as in I have no loyalty to Leeds or Wire.
fact of the matter is in incidences like this (rare that they are thankfully) people always get their club coloured specs out like you.
So you did not seee the big guy run in and start throwing punches or the beer thrown both from the Warrington fans?
Yer there were some Leeds numpties about and yer they were in the Warrington section but the fact of the matter is I got stick for wearing my Fax shirt and got called Yorkshire scum a few times when I went to the toilets.
Now I have never had this from any fans at any CC Final nor even abuse from our rivals in Bradford.
Sadly Warrington you DO have an element ask other 'neutrals' at the game yesterday if you don't believe me.
Oh and yes Leeds are no angels either, success brings out these people sadly. I bet they are more used to ging to football where this type of behaviour is still going on.

Unfortunately we all know that that isn't going to happen. You can circulate someone's poor quality mugshot to every turnstile operator in the league but we all know that its not going to stop anyone paying on the gate and walking straight through.
We're a long way short of the sort of security that is in place at football grounds and the need for 100% membership of a club to gain admission both from a technology point of view and the will to actually do anything at all about crowd control.

85K ‘fans’ were at Wembley yesterday.
If we add ALL the Rhinos fans that regularly attend home games week in, week out to ALL the Wire fans that do the same it doesn’t even come close to 85K, not even half.
This means there were 40(+)K ‘none fans’ were in attendance, I’m betting my left bollock that these so called fans wouldn’t even know their way to either Headingley or the HJ.

| We got the finger from a kid in a Warrington shirt before the game. He was 9 at the most. We just waved him and his family off.
Then again our lot aren't much better. One of the late Wire tries and a lad who had a Wire shirt on behind us was cheering. This provoked some so called Leeds fans to offer him on. He was soon told to sit down and shut up by his mates and daughter when they realised 30 Leeds fans were backing him up. Funny how people only start when they thinkthey have the numbers but cry off when they realise it's evens stevens

| [sizeHave just copied this from the wires site for you to read [/size
With regards to the trouble in the right hand corner of the Warrington end ( block 109 ) can I say that the Leeds "supporters" in that block ( approx rows 4 to 12 ) were an absolute disgrace. They were mostly in their 20s but ranged up to I'd guess 40 years old
I was sat approx 5 rows right behind them.
Can I thank them for showering my 68 year old parents with beer on at least 3 occasions ( along with their friend who came to his first game of rugby for 30 years ).
Can I thank them for offering my 68 year old dad out for a fight after he complained about the first of the beer showers.
Can I thank them for offering to fight a group of teenagers ( 13/14 year olds ) further a log the rows from them for having the temerity to applaud Warrington when they scored.
Can I thank them for the obscene gestures that we were subjected to from before the kick off until the time they actually decided that they had all had enough to drink and would mow like to start fighting with 10 minutes to go.
Can i thank them for hitting my wife with a plastic cup of beer
Can i thank them also for hitting the little girl about 5 rows above me in the face with a plastic cup of beer.
Can I thank them for reducing children around me to tears due to fear.
But can i also thank the moronic Warrington fans who rose to the bait thus ensuring a fight finally ensued.
A great day ruined. At the final hooter I didnt actually know the score because people were trying to calm everybody down.
To any Leeds fans sat down in this corner who obviously were not involved in this incident I apologise unreservedly for tarring you with the same brush as these morons. We had great banter with genuine Leeds supporters all day.
But to the group of Leeds "supporters" who instigated all the trouble.
You managed to spoil a great day out for hundreds of people. My wife will not attend another match if there is a chance that away fans could be mingled in with home fans ( ie Grand Final ). So thanks for that.
I do not want this brushed under the carpet or ignored because we won. I want the CC footage examined and I want to see the main instigators charged ( including the WArrington fans if necessary ). I want to see the people hurling the plastic pots filled with beer at people charged with assault. Any chance. NO.

| I've said this before but until the authorities ban sale of alcohol during the games this will continue to happen and, god forbid, scenes only previously seen with soccer.
RL C.Cup final - speccies typically leave 7am and start on the beer; Grand Final even worse - speccies get to drink all day and by 6pm ko are well and truly bladdered!
Next - continue to be served and recipe for aggression.....
I have seen this at recent GF games with Saints and Leeds and also at Wembley with Saints and Hull fans (yes - I am Saints fan). I'm not picking on any named team either, all clubs have their idiots especially when beer is freely available - Saints more than many!
Sad day when I say that alcohol shouldn't be sold at matches but I really fear for the day when it all kicks off and, for once, we as RL sport finally appears on the BBC News and front pages in the press for all the wrong reasons.

Spot on.
But for some reason it's always the other sides fault.
Then it's segregation. Strange I was at Bradford in 1960 in a crowd of 87,000 for Wigan v Wakefield with no segregation and there was no trouble.
Real RL supporters need to point out the troublemakers, even if they are friends.

jeffers#13 has quoted my original post on this topic.
The account from Fax4Life above has no resemblence to the actual events of yesterday afternoon whatsoever ( at least with the incident they are trying to describe )
I cannot pass a comment on any other incident bar the one in block 109. I do not doubt for 1 minute that there were incidents where the fault lies entirely with Warrington fans and that Leeds fans may have had to put up with the same abuse as we had to. Hopefully their day was not spoiled.
As a previous poster claims the truth will lie between the accounts of Leeds fans and the Warrington fans. This is not true.
I do not condone the actions of the Warrington fans who finally retaliated after over 70 minutes of abuse, beer showers and offers of a fight outside to prove who was the bigger man. However the conduct of the group of I would guess 30
Leeds " supporters" was a disgrace. There were 2 or 3 ringleaders but in my opinion the intent of the whole group was to cause as much trouble as possible.
I just wanted to put a version of the actual events that took place forward from someone who was sat almost right in the middle of it
So once again, thanks to this group for the spoiling of what should have been a great afternoon. Its a shame that such a small minority caused distress for a large number of people.

Couldn't agree more mate
I love attending these finals both as a Leeds fan and as a neutral but each time I'm never fully relaxed until I see who is sitting around us,hoping we don't get the kind of drunken idiots that were involved in the incident described in this thread and other similar ones that seem to get reported on at every final, especially the Grand Final, like when you say these lads who cannot handle their beer have been at it all day.

| When it's football, the YEP are never shy at printing mughsots of the scummers who have been rucking. I'd like them to do the same here. I bet a lot of us would recognise some of them. I've certainly been to matches where the conduct of some Leeds fans has made me ashamed.
I'm not saying other clubs are angels, but I can only comment on what I see on a regular basis.

the fight in block 109 was started by your lot but our so called "fans" that took the bait are honestly just as bad. i would say though that the group of leeds fans at the bottom were givving gestures and signs aat all the wire fans in our end not a very smart move, they then started throwing beers at different warrington fans one hit a young girl in the face so the dad got up angrily and pushed the leeds fan down the stairs he was then chased up the stairs and more wire fans jumped up to have a fight and just people that were next to the fight had to as the leeds fans were that smashed they just hit anyone who was near them
