If you do your homework Emma it was actually me who broke the story that we had signed Greg back in 2008.

That came from a certain someone at the club.

And I'd quite happily tell a mod rather than go splashing names on here willy nilly. If that's not good enough for you then wait for the official announcement.

TBH I think it probably is true, but I dont see the point of coming on here saying that you have heard it is, but then not telling us how you know.

A lot of people on here have links to the club through various personnel, but we dont start a new thread to 'confirm' something that has alrady been discussed on another thread.

I dont mean to offend, but I don't really see the point.

I really don’t want to believe you but with everything that’s been said and the comments made by his dad I think you’re right.

Shame though – he really looked the part.

If he wants to be here great, he's welcome to stay. If he want's to go home, well that's ok too. There was a Leeds Rhinos before he came and there will be one after he leaves (whenever that may be).

Blueys comments in todays YEP.

www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/l ... 6430630.jp

Reports in Australia have suggested he is homesick and keen for a return to his former club Canterbury, but McClennan said: "He has been fine.

"It was hard for Greg when he got here, because he's a young man, single and it's hard at first for any young fella. The longer he's been here, the better he's got.

"He came over here with an injury sustained in the Four Nations, then copped the same injury on his other hand and now he has another long-term injury.

"It is the nightmare of professional players and it's a real shame because he was flying along and doing really well.

"All players get a bit down when they are injured, but he's handling it really well and is looking after himself. icon_confused.gif

I think if he sucks it up and gets on with it there is a real chance this lad could become a favorite of the club ala Adrian Morley but this now lies totally in his hands.

I agree however if his heart isnt in it then best he heads off icon_biggrin.gifOH:

Like Batley says, he's welcome here but he's also welcome to go. We won't miss what he's done in the 2 years since we signed him, you can't miss what you haven't had!

I still think the club should make him stay.

Agree with first bit but not the second if he's not happy or committed to the cause then he should be allowed to leave. If he's force to stay will Leeds get the best out of him, I doubt it.
Reading earlier reports when he first signed it was fairly clear he only came over for the money,so the decreased value of the pound plus his injury woe certainly won't have help the situation.

If he wants to go, how could the club make him stay?

I'm not sure they could - or should be seen to - enforce his contract if he returned to Australia. the only reason to play hard ball would be nothing to do with Eastwood and all about getting some compensation from whichever NRL side wanted him. Given the likely relatively small scale of that compensation and the resultant impact on Leeds' image Down Under, I can't see that happening.

If the rumours are even half true then I suspect he'll leave at the end of the year. If he asked to be released during the season then I'm glad Leeds didn't let him go. The end of the year is a different matter unless we can't get a suitable replacement.

The difficulty is the longer we leave it the more difficult it will be to get a suitable replacement.
I wonder if Heighington fancies coming over?

I'd be surprised if the Tigers were willing to release him mate he and Ellis are the "Engines"
in their engine room.
