| I regularly speak to JJB, I did not see him as the problem last year. what he did say was Furner was asking the forwards not to play their natural game and made changes that was alien to them, and the forwards struggled to understand what Furner wanted. Clearly without proportioning blame to any of the players ( yet some of the players clearly did not get on with him) the problem was Furner's. Guys he was given a chance, but did not have a clue, once you start to lose the players you are finished. You cannot demand respect, you are shown and given respect by the way you act and you do your job. You earn respect. Furner has gone, don't worry he wont be back. With regards Agar, so far looking at the games that are completed , and some have said how can we quote after one game, my answer is with the Rhinos it has been going like this for the last 3 years. After the performance on Sunday it looks again we have not moved forward. We were taken apart by a Hull team that was way ahead of us. First game of the season we should have been up for It but after the first 20 minutes it was all over, Our forwards simply wasn't good enough. How much have we moved forward compared to other teams, because if we have moved forward other teams have moved forward more. We have little pace in our team.
Last Night Warrington took Saints apart, the week before Saints took Salford apart. What comments on here if we lose on Sunday to Huddersfield, then the knives will be out for Agar. Here is a man who said he did not want the job, so we offered him the job and he took it. What does that tell you. With so many players leaving last year it was the ideal time to bring in a new coach.
I do agree with comments on here that too many old boys are given jobs, I just hope that if we don't get any better then some people take responsibility and leave
The people who will not be leaving are Caddick and Hetherington, their share ownership determines that.

| Quote: christopher "Blimey, Furner was the Alex Ferguson of RL was he? it's a daft comparison, Alex Ferguson was a very successful coach with a proven track record before taking over at Manchester United.
Furner was not a good coach for us, at all, he came in and lost the dressing room within 6 months, and we look like a terrible 'team' now as Ive stated before whether Agar was the correct appointment after he left is a different discussion but I am not really sure where this revisionism on Furners time here is coming from other than I think some just want the club always to be in the wrong for some reason.
FWIW I would have liked Griffin or the Walker Brothers to have come in and replaced him, but they haven't, I thought putting Agar in as a steadying ship exercise was fine for last year, I'm not convinced he's the correct man at all to take us forward, but for that matter I'm not sure Sinfield or Hetherington do either, hence the 1 year deal.'"
Fair point - the club made some very bad errors of judgement - letting McGuire go, some very poor recruitment, the way they dealt with Watkins etc. My view is the club was in a bad place and Furner came into a club in turmoil and as such he should have been given more time.

Well I think we may well have been relegated if Furner was given more time, but we'll never know and it really isn't worth going over and over.

With a group of players not of his choosing and joining the club over halfway through the season? Expecting 2 points next Friday, up the reds.

| To be honest here, we are on to our 4th coaching set up in little over a season. McD had run his course, sinny/Lowe's did not do any better but then they were a stop gap, top choice Furner didn't cut it and now Agar.
The reality is, and we all know this so lord knows we we keep having this conversation, but the club has taken their eye off the ball for a long time and the damage takes a long time to fix.
Sure, let's get rid of Agar, but then what?
Buckle of folks, this is going to take a while to get through.

| Agar is a decent manager but it will be interesting to see how he comes when/if Leeds hit poor form this season (and no, we can't say that just yet after 1 game).
We have picked up a few NRL "bargains" - players Agar spotted during his time over there and where the club feels we might have some value for money.
What we haven't done really is bring in true Marquee players. I can't count Gale here because coming off the back of his injuries, there's a way to go for him yet.
We can go round in circles all we like on this but our players simply aren't good enough at present. Some of the young lads should/might be in another season or three. Some of our seniors are decent enough squad players. But we lack real quality in the here and now.
Personally I'd be lining up a recognised coach to replace Agar for 2021, when actually if we make one or two more astute signings, we may be looking something like again. We have several senior players off contract then and I expect us to have some funds to play with.

| What is annoying is the likes of Saints, Wire, Wigan who were similar to us have got out of the mire by making astute signings and or had faith in their Academy.
Now correct me if I am wrong but didn`t we have a decent Academy with some promising youngsters only a step away?
These youngsters are now playing DR.
So we are in this mess due to poor management and or coaching whilst others have improved we have stood still or gone backwards.
Appointing your mates in to jobs that they cannot do will see us slip even further behind imo.

Pretty good assessment that. We got it wrong with Merrin (in the he didnt really want to be here) and Hurrell isnt worth marquee money for me. I'm not saying hes poor, far from it, but not quite worth marquee.
