Quote: craigizzard "Think that's unfair on BJB. Was generally safe under the high ball and was our only running threat. Hardaker would probably have stopped the second Wakefield second try but not many other fullbacks in the league would have.

Was very disappointed with Delaney and Stevie Ward. We missed Ablett badly, partly because he can make his own breaks and partly because Moon and Hall didn't get any ball (thanks to McGuire and Delaney, largely). Watkins and Briscoe look really short of form. On the positive side, Peacock was his usual, Aiton and Walters impressed in defence, and Robbie Ward looked bright.'"

Regarding Delaney, why don't they just revert him to loose again. He did fine there earlier in the year and Walters could've started 2nd row......baffling.

Why do people keep saying Watkins is out of form ,he gets no service from the half backs yet again though created something out of nothing

I'd say it's more Sutcliffe can't control the game because of the more experienced players on the pitch, not much he can do till he's let to, although I completely agree about Briscoe. Looked exceptional to start with but has tailed off a lot since then.

Abysmal performance by the Rhinos.
The conditions didn’t help but Wakey handled them better.
For what its worth here’s my player assesment out of 10

Ben Jones-Bishop 7
Tom Briscoe 4
Kallum Watkins 6
Joel Moon 4
Ryan Hall 7
Danny McGuire 3
Ryan Bailey 5
Paul Aiton 7
Jamie Peacock 7
Stevie Ward 5
Brett Delaney 5
Liam Sutcliffe 5
Elliot Minchella 4
Josh Walters 6
Brad Singleton 4
Robbie Ward 6
Rob Mulhern 5

Very poor performance by Danny McGuire but he wasn’t the only one. Collectively not good enough
Plenty of Leeds players need to have a good look into the mirror and the coach is included in this. I hope it sparks a seminal moment in Leeds’s season. They need to put things right in the next game attitude wise. As for Phil “I’m in Love with Wigan” Clarke, how unprofessional was he? icon_rolleyes.gif

He's named in the halves, he SHOULD go out and control things more. Hardaker for example in a pivot position never striked me from the start of lacking the confidence to go out and get involved in games, he grabbed the chance straight away to stamp his mark on the team......Sutcliffe hasn't.

Not sure what either half back contributed tbh is Sutcliffe really a half back?

Wakey deserved their win on the balance of play crowd looked bigger than 4.6k

Our attack looked very flat tonight no threat no innovation no style this has to improve.

BJB always has brain fart the run towards the line with <5 mins to go was silly he needed to go inside, another great try

No question, if you've seen him play for the academy you'll know he rips the other teams to shreds.. Great 6

This is a problem in the game with some fans and we've seen it used against Sinfield for England,

The 'pace' and running teams to pieces argument.

Yeah speed is great but can your halfback organise, link, kick (TBF he did good tonight with that), create for others.

Tired of hearing people just think halves should just be speed merchants who out pace defenders. So clueless about the role.

Playing teams where 75% of them probably won't make SL standard and running through gaps due to lack of defensive reading intelligence does not make a great 6.

He didn't in the academy games v Wigan last year. And in the Grand Final he was playing against Jake Shorrocks who is a year younger. Hampshire murdered him in the game at Stanningley. I've always said he looks like a very good #13.

I get a little annoyed when I hear people make excuses for young half backs. ATEOTD he's tasked with playing in the halves and that means he needs to take on some responsibility. I think he's got a pretty decent kicking game and good feet, but his decision making still isn't great and doesn't look to get involved enough. Having said that I still think he's a back rower, same with Stevie Ward, however, unless they can bulk up over the next couple of years I'm not sure Leeds could afford to carry two light weight back rowers.

Agree Sutcliffe will probably end up as a LF.
Maybe Steve Ward in the halves?
Tonight was like watching a reasonably good championship game.
Both teams with little idea, happy to plod it up the middle. No real game plan, poor distribution from the halves.
Has Sutcliffe been told to just pass the ball as soon as he gets it?
Yes we had plenty of players out but so did Saints and Wigan when they both beat Leeds.

Exactly this, did McGuire or Burrow lack involvement when they first came into the first team? No.

Other poster asked has he been told just to pass? Well I saw him in the pre-season friendly vs Hunslet where he was one of only a few first teamers on show surrounded by mostly academy lads with Pulme in charge......surely a chance to manage the game.....but no. Just looked like someone who waits for the ball and then could produce a step or two but no game manager or controller.

A poor performance and once again there was a lack of attacking ideas. Seems like all McGuire did was drop the ball back inside. Bish certainly isn't a top class fullback. McDermott needs to earn his wage and sort it out.

The "mid season slump" is hopefully not becoming just the start of the slump. Awful!
