Others/g22.gif GWMC for the Cas n District Snooker League Title....!!! Up the workies !!:Others/g22.gif |
|
| Quote: Andy Gilder "I think you may be confusing "the last time we played you" with the game the week after the WCC at your place last year when Leeds were universally poor and well beaten.
It's the one time I can actually recall Shenton looking good, but to be fair it wasn't difficult against Leeds that night.
If Shenton was all the Cas fans reckon he's cracked up to be he'd be at a big club by now instead of at Cas, same with Westerman.'"
That's what i was thinking. You do know though Cas 'fans' love to hate Senior since his Sheffield days when he flattened BJ Mathers... so no matter who plays for Cas they've all been better than Senior. Afterall Senior has only been one of the best centre's we've produced for well over a decade if not 20 years imo.

They weren't even facing each other on the same side of the pitch.

Moved him back to his favoured right centre on Friday to do a job on old Keith. And what a job he did.

I did. His better showings have been in the right centre position IMO.
On Friday Shenton reflected his team's collective performance.
Tony Smith will still likely as not select Shenton as one of England's best available centres in the quad nations tournament.

| Just watched the highlights on SLTV
If 36 year old Keith can do that to Shenton then I dread to think what lies in store for England this Autumn.
Maybe Tony Smith might have a look at Ashley Gibson for the right centre this autuimn.

Aye, we'll have to wait and see if Keith extends his deal again and again and again and see if Castleford are still worthy of inclusion in the Super League by then.

| I have seen Shenton have the odd game where he looks reasonable, but nothing special. The bald destroyer was a different class.
Westerman is the amazing one to me. Where he has got this reputation from, I have no idea. He physically looked like a bantamweight compared to the Leeds cruiserweight forwards, and promptly got chewed up and spat out.
I anticipate that both will remain at Cas for their entire careers, earning a reasonable crust and going no further. Poop.

Fletcher: Course, he sees 'imself as an authority on curry, he does, on account of where he was stationed in the army.
Rudge: Where? India?
Fletcher: No, Bradford.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40413.jpg |

| When a team gets beaten by 70 its hard for any player to look good at all. I suspect if Westerman and Shenton were playing for Leeds - swap for Senior and Sinfield maybe - the scoreline may have been less but not by a lot, and we'd be singing their praises.
I don't like the constant bigging up of British prospects, but I don't like the constant bagging of them either. I prefer to take them on the merit of what I see. To date nothing much from either Shenton or Westerman, but a few good judges including Tony Smith have seen something they like, so I'll go with that for now.

You'll find TVOC and I have been critiquing Shenton all season long in light of the right centre issues at leeds and the rumours.
You'll also find that my critique has been fairly unimpressive from what I've seen.
Its' not just an reaction to his abject, embarrassing display on Friday.

No cos he plays for Leeds and i'm very biased.. . mind you i'm not sure when he is 36 he'd be playing for us, as i would hope we'd have found a suitable young player to fill his considerable boots.
