You can't expect adult behaviour tad. But regardless, to be fair to Gareth I was wrong on the contract, simple as that. But his mum was certainly under the impression he had not been offered one a few weeks back. Maybe misunderstanding on the fact that one was offered and then pulled away.
But unless I have missed something and Tom is also going, and the mum staying, then at least I was the one correct there. If that happens then he can gladly gloat.

| Quote finglas="finglas"I also think there is a rule whereby a long-term injured player can come off the cap (I think i remember that being the case - isn't that how Bradford afforded Morley on an end of season contract a few years ago) in which case Senior may be off the cap.'"
I seem to remember that Bradford broke the cap rule in 2005 when they had morley on loan. May have the wrong year but i am pretty sure it was 2005

| Quote tvoc="tvoc"As Burgess asked to be released from the remainder of his contract I doubt Hetherington will have paid him anything much for the priviledge.
Cross however, you would presume, will have been entitled to a settlement on the remainder of his deal (2011 and 2012) so on balance I agree that it's unlikely it will have provided any spare capacity for a signing this year without Leeds already had that space under the cap.'"
He is free to find another club but in the mean time he is off on loan to Wigan until the end of the season. Watch him rip it up!

given an extended run with someone I think he will.
I'm amazed we brought him and his family all this way to bin him now after what, about 5/6 games for us?
He was clearly a Bluey signing but still I think he deserved more game time.
Both Kylie and even Peacock were getting stuck on here from some after their first half dozen games or so.
The last 2 games Cross had against Bulls & Cas away I thought he showed real promise. Good tackler, drove the ball in hard and was aggressive (albeit resulting in the odd brain fart of a penalty but there are plenty of other culprits in our squad over the years for giving penalties away whilst in possession)
at least he offered a bit of 'mungrel' in our pack, something which is often missing.
I think he will end of proving to be a good edition for someone if he stats in Super League the next 2/3 years

If he's free to find another club why would he go on loan to wigan. Why would wigan not just offer him a contract till the end of the season? Seems pointless to me hence the scepticism.

While I agree it does seem odd not to have given him more of a run and a chance. Was not a signing I wanted to see but seen as though we had we shold have probably given him a bit more of a go. But non of us know what has happened behind the scenes and if he has been disruptive etc..
I dont agree on the "MUNGREL" in the pack. I thought at the very least he would have provided that but It was something I didnt witness at all from his time here.

What Luke does or doesn't do has very little with what his mother does or says. That is the part when I knew you were making things up.
If you knew anything about the family dynamic you would understand why. You clearly don't. I do. I shall elaborate no further in the public domain but suffice to say he was always going to Australia one way or another. That was in no doubt to those in the know (including GH). The only doubt appears to have been on your part.
Now that Luke has got his deal with Souths with such surprising haste (yeah right) do those posters who criticised GH for giving Luke a tight deadline to sign a Leeds contract now accept that GH was doing exactly the right thing? Let's see if they have the cajones to be contrite.

Haven't we released Cross?
If so, he's a free agent. If he's going "on loan" who is loaning him out?

He hasn't grasped that part yet.

| Ben Cross has played 10 games this year, which probably covers about a tenth of his whole playing career. I think a long, relaxing, holiday is well over-due.

Gareth - I've agreed with you all along r.e. this particular matter. Just thought I'd mention that.
I wouldn't even surprise me if GH didn't get wind of a Bunnies deal before he offered the 3 year, with 3 days, deal. If he'd found out Burgess was already in talks with the Bunnies (which let's face it, he's probably been in contact one way or another since Sam went, and most definitely since George went!) would make perfect sense for GH to want to stop all the messing around and either stay or go.
As G1 has already pointed out, the haste of the Bunnies deal speaks volumes.

Sounds a fair reading, although it doesn't explain why Burgess has been frozen out *this season*, unlike Ellis, Smith and Eastwood.
