Because one is incapable of following what is happening before his very eyes and the other has no interest beyond turning up to get his paycheck.

Quite possibly.
This (Stallone film bashing) could warrant a thread of its own.
In relation to ...my Mom will shoot, I couldn't comment. I haven't seen it. I have heard rumours of how bad it is. So maybe similar to posters on here, I could assume how bad it is without knowing myself.
What about one of the Spy Kids films, he has about 6/7 roles in that film - GULP - I know.

| Quote: miscreant "But Betamax was the one that didn't stay the course eh ? Strange.'"
For mine the superior 'quality' system lost out. I'm sure there are other instances where this has happened before.
Quote: miscreant "I can't imagine what you must have been paying for a video back in 1979 but in today's terms it must have been costly. For instance, I recall buying a highlights video of the 1982 Kangaroos tour and it was around £30 back then. '"
A three hour blank tape (Thorn Video Cassette E-180) used to set you back around £10 individually. DER used to do them in packs of three for £27.99 .... bargain.
Quote: miscreant "Have you kept all your old videos or have you transferred them to DVD ? I have 100s of videos going back nearly 30 years that I'd like to get transferred if anyone knows of any cost-effective service providers.'"
I've basically kept them although over the years I've thrown many a mouldy tape away without knowing (or wanting to know) what's on there.
I keep toying with the idea of transferring some to DVD but I don't seem to find the time or the neccessary motivation.

Is that such a surprise given that the semi-final was in Huddersfield and season ticket holders had to buy an extra ticket to attend?

It depends on the size of your TV. If you have a 50 inch one, then Sky+ will greatly improve your experience.
If you have a 32 inch one, there's no point.
I have a 37, and I think its fine on normal definition, but can see the extra crispness of HD

Almost as big a surprise as 13,692 turning up to Headingley for a knock out game against Wigan in SL as opposed to only 9,242 turning up to Headingley for a knock out game against Wigan in the CC, where both fixtures required the need to buy an extra ticket to attend.
My point stands.

| Your point being exactly what ?
That you refuse to go to the game because....erm thousands of others can't be d either ?
The larger 13k attendance for the play-off game v Wigan, as opposed 9k for the Cup quarter-final in pouring rain, may have been because fans were eager to see if Leeds could qualify for a 4th consecutive Old Trafford appearance.

We have a 52, and it's incredible. I hardly ever watch anything that isn't HD now.

| Quote: Remarkable_Rhinos "Easy...
Because Woods actually commentates on the game, and gets it right (in the most part).
And Noble watches the sport week in, week out, and knows what's going on.
Whilst French, as wonderful as he is as a character, just can't do the job any more
and Davies doesn't even follow RL, and it shows. He just isn't in touch with the game.
Last year, Davies said (on Ryan Hall)... "This kid will turn into a fantastic try scorer one day... mark my words!" Excellent insight Jonathan, especially given that he said it a whole year and a half after Ryan finished as Super League's leading try scorer.'"
A point made irrelevant by the fact no-one shall be watching. Furthermore if your concern is the new fan watching for the first time, this is also not a factor. The only people who would be able to see that Davies and French are out of touch are already fans of the game.
Thing is that the BBC audience relates better to the old man and Davies than they do to a Northern hack and some white haired fellow they have never heard of.

Can we throw into the mix as well that one game was available to anyone with a TV on a free-to-air channel, while the other would have required the armchair viewer to have a Sky Sports subscription?
Perhaps that forced more people to get out and watch the play-off game in the flesh, although it wouldn't account for the full 4,000 difference on its own.

That's an overly simplistic way of looking at things. You need to factor in other things such as:
1. The CC game being broadcast by the BBC
2. Horrendous weather for the CC game and a sunny evening for the play-off game
3. Leeds having beaten the form team prior to the play-off game
4. The CC game having an early afternoon KO, affecting those involved in the amateur game, including me
I think it's more likely that a combination of the above put paid to a high attendance rather that the cup having lost it's appeal.

I used to think that too. When you first get it, if you flick between the two there seems to be little to no difference.
After you've been watching HD a while though, and you have to watch something that isn't you really do notice it.
Although, I'm convinced they're gradually and subtly deliberately reducing the quality of SD television to boost HD sales.
Have you ever seen those Sky stands in the White Rose (or wherever) that are showing a football match in split screen with half HD/SD. The SD part must be doctored to look worse surly? I've never seen a picture as bad as that on a modern TV!
