No, it's a good mould and is quite comfy to sit on.

I read a lot of gush on this site and thought I’d finally reply as some of the doom and gloom is absurd. We are 4 games into the season less we forget and nothing is won in March.

The performances have been patchy but signs of brilliance can be seen if you take time to look rather than criticise. Leeds are trying things and something’s inevitably haven’t come off such as the drop out against Harlequins. That said Leeds are top of the try chart, top off the points chart (whilst also being top of the missed goals chart I might add). Also top of the offloads chart and top of the clean breaks chart so we are clearly creating.

We are playing some attractive rugby and signs of class such as the cross field kick from Sinfield to BJB against Wire, also the coach has tried some innovative set plays such as the scrum break against Bradford or the 2 player (Burrow & Ablett) run around from the base of the scrum against Warrington. These nearly came off and with a few more months to implement and gel with the coach Leeds will be right up there again.

All this attacking flair has come without one of our best creative players.

The thing letting Leeds down has been defence we have missed the most tackles and made the 3rd most errors thus we’ve lost 2 game. Once we have got use to playing this new attractive style again the errors will dry up. Our best defenders such as Peacock will return and we will once again be near the top come October.

The discipline this year looks better we currently sit 9th in terms of number of penalties conceded compared to 4th in 2009 and 6th in 2010.

All in all there’s a number of positives if people can avoid the easy option of criticising and look for them.

Winning penalty counts isn't the be all and end all. So far this season Leeds have 'lost' the counts V Bradford and Hull and 'won' the counts V Harlequins and Warrington. Bit of a disconnect there.

I don't think he was quoting the missed goals as a positive thing tvoc.

I think what he meant is that despite the fact Leeds have squandered more 2 point opportunities than any other team, they have still scored more points than any other team. Which is a fair point. It wasn't the be all and end all of his argument. Just a perfectly valid and legitimate observation.

We've scored more points than anyone else, despite the hindrance of also missing more goals than anyone else.

Missing the most goal attempts and still being top of the points scored table reinforces my point that attacking wise we look very good despite missing arguably our best creative player.

The penalty count is not everything you are indeed correct but one of the biggest gripes from the previous season was our lack of discipline by conceding less than 8 other teams over the 4 games so far I would suggest it has improved. I haven’t noticed as much chatting back to the ref so far either this year which is another sign of improvement in this area.

Good point.

But you could take this as a positive slant in that this is purely a temporary situation which is sure to improve because we have the best kicker in the competition. A bit like saying we are playing without some of our best players who when they return will have a massive positive effect.

I think what we've learnt from the first 4 games is this new guy we've got at Stand Off isn't as good at goal kicking as that fella who played Loose Forward last season! eusa_think.gif eusa_eh.gif

He seems to have changed his kicking style but he will be at the top again come the end of season. He is a class act no matter where he plays.

All the things that have cost us points so far are easily fixable:

Missed tackles
Tries scored from dummy half
Interception passes thrown

Nowt too serious there that we can't sort.

Another positive is the injured players that will be drip-fed back into the playing 17.
