I'd have no problem with swapping Merrin for Maloney. Sorting Tui out is a different kettle of fish because whilst he might be a high earner nobody will want him. Merrin might be happy enough going back to Aus and we are desperate for a halfback. Maloney might not be in great form this year but he's a class act in attack and would not lack confidence in getting the team organised. Whilst he's generally regarded as a poor defender he's less likely to be as well targeted in SL and in any event couldn't be as bad as Tui in that regard either.
