Doesn't sound as though Hastings acted very honourably.....'"
Fair point. But for whatever reason we weren't as attractive as we should be. Are those trying to sell the club maybe too dour?
I can imagine the likes of Smith and McClennan drawing in players on enthusiasm alone, even McDermott with his version of a trophy laden SAS.
Sir keV and agar must come across like those doctors of doom whitty and van Tam to those unaccustomed to the north of England male. With slim odds on a trophy.

All these players lack the ability of their counterparts at Saint, Wigan, Cas, Warrington, Hull, Catalans - so how is having more competition going to improve the quality gap?'" There is plenty of quality in our squad hence why we could still put a decent team out with over 10 players missing. Nobody is say the squad is complete but there is a lot of quality there we just need to get them on the field.

| I remember when the Goldens came through it wasn’t always in good times for the team as a whole.
I really feel the young generation coming through now are the future of the club; there are some cracking players in there learning their craft and developing physically.
We are going to be a force again in future years. Thing is how long must we wait - and that is where our decision making in senior recruitment will make the difference.
The young lads need some inspiration around them - more players like Tetevano and Prior, both of whom could still do a job in NRL from what I’ve seen.

I said on an earlier thread it isn't complete but there is still a lot of quality.Calling the squad substandard is harsh.

Serious question Doc. If youre so down on the club, team, squad and coaching staff why do you watch them? You cant enjoy it.
Theres a lot more positive stuff at the club than you seem to see.
I get that being a fan is about highs and lows, rough and stuff, but its also a pastime and should be something you look forward to and enjoy. You cant possibly enjoy it.
Im not knocking you, your entitled to your opinion and i cant argue with some of it but jeez your negative. Whats your motivation for watching?

| To answer Doc I’d probably say Mik, Prior and Tetevano are the only ones.
Having said that I’m looking at an almost fully home-grown side in a few years of: Walker (fingers crossed for him), Tindall. Newman, Broadbent, Handley, ?, ?, Mik, ? Holroyd, Edwards, Gannon, Smith plus a handy set of subs. There is some real talent there and plenty to be positive about.

| Oh and Walters, maybe O’Connor... fair few ex-England academy players there and more good ones coming through.
We really haven’t had as good a flush of talent for ages.
Even I am feeling a little frustrated at some of our recruitment though and I want us to start signing like we mean it. We really are in a place where 1 top drawer player will give us more than 3 quite good ones. Let the lads fill those spots.
Shaun Johnson: take my car keys and my wife keys now.

Haha - love it Shab!
All last season you kept saying it was a non event - I think you called it a training exercise....
Now you keep calling out the CC win and polishing the trophy like it was some kind of historic victory!!
Obviously we'll all take the trophy, but it was a hollow victory with only one good performance.
Not foundations for a Grand Final challenge.

I never said that Simmo71. I said the league actually became a trainibg run with the COVID testing farce, and GF played in Hull!!
