He's a professional footballer, by that I mean he doesn't drink, keeps his private life private and just generally gets on with his football. It's because of that that I think he'd choose Scum given the option. Guarenteed CL football, title chase every season & winning cup medals along the way.'"
Yeah thats true. If he wants medals and glory he could go to Manchester United, that said he could go to Barcelona, Real Madrid or Inter Milan who are also keen on his services FWIH

| I wouldn't begrudge any player going to united. They are the biggest club in the world, or near enough

| Gradel is no great concern in my opinion - especially if the team is strengthened adequately.
Shame for Ben Parker but I'm expecting a new left back anyway.
Really hoping the squad isn't bolstered by loan signings and freebie discards from other Championship sides.

I agree to a point but there are some quality Championship players available on freebies imo.
The likes of Ashdown,Finnan,De-Merit,Montgomery.Mceverly and a few others who i think would do a decent job for us.
I do hope that we can spend some decent ££ on at least 1 new striker but hopefully 2.

IMO Grayson is a great manager and he does love a loan or 5. Personally I'd prefer we signed more but I'm sure Grayson knows best.

| Loan signings can be very hit and miss - ultimately you're signing a player who may not be wanted at his parent club (and there may well be a reason for that) and possibly lacks any great commitment to his temporary employers. They offer little continuity as the squad is bound to change considerably at the end of each season and within it as loan players return or are released. Nor do they increase the value of the club or it's future bargaining power as you don't own your playing assets.
I'd have no problem with a couple of season long loans of young players on the fringe of things at decent premier league clubs but anything more than that looks like a cheap option and a big risk.
Larry has got a reputation for working the loan market from Blackpool days onward (and that might well be a reason why Bates liked him) but its a small fish in big pond quality and I don't think that's the right mindset for the Championship for Leeds. Plus, I don't think he has a perfect record in terms of loans anyway - Mcsheffrey & Trundle for example.
I think there are a few surprising freebies available with Mceveley looking a far more interesting prospect than Ian Harte for example, but ultimately a player released by a mid table Championship side shouldn't be the sort of player Leeds United look to to improve their squad quality. For that reason I hope there's no permanent signing of Doyle.
Because of the number of players likely to be needed I'd expect a couple of loans and a couple of freebies to have to be accomodated but there should be money available to prise quality players away from other clubs to provide the backbone of player recruitment.

All good points PA i suppose it depends if as a club they are seriously wanting a promotion challenge this year.
FWIW i personally think Mceverly is a decent Championship FB and a vast improvement on what we have at the moment so i guess like i said above it depends whether we are looking to establish in this division or go straight for another promotion.
In terms of numbers i think we need at least 6/7 new players and of those i'd be looking to at least 4/5 of them to be 1st choice.
