I applaud your post ross. the problem is a few years back we had wigan fans aplenty on here saying they hoped McGuire never played again.

Ferres' tackle was poor. Very poor and has lead to a serious injury. But it was a poor tackle nonetheless. You could argue that it was "intentional" and you can also argue that it was "unfortunate" due to the added weight of Delaney and what looked to be Gildart pushing back. Which you pick is most likely down to which player is wearing your teams jersey.
Flower's attack ended a career (no doubt that Ferres could also have done that). One punch can be all it takes to kill somebody. I'd rather have Fatty Ferres sat on me than Biffy Ben thwacking me round the head. |

Spare us the hyperbole, nobody has suggested Ferres 'Get away with It' everybody agrees he should get a ban but comparisons with Flower are just silly. |

He probably should. John Bateman got 3 games for a crusher tackle.
8 games is the maximum for that offence. If we give Ferres 8 games what do we do with crusher tackles which are worse.

If he's been demoted because of that then I think it's very harsh when you consider what his positioning would be - he'll just be able to see the backs of the Leeds players, mostly Delaney. You watch the game back and Wigan players don't initially run in so obviously don't see much in it at normal speed and only reacted when Gildart stayed down.
But then again he failed to send a player off against Wigan so surprised he hasn't been given a 6 match ban from the Wigan Disciplinary Board as well as extra punishment for not sending Burrow off for attacking poor innocent Joel Tomkins hand with his face.

I can't imagine what a worse one would look like.
I've no dog in this fight between pies and rhinos, but Sat watching the match on Friday night, I was pretty horrified at the angle his neck went into. And having done Brazilian jiu jitsu for many years, I've been on the receiving end of can openers, and getting stacked upside down on my neck.
I wouldn't like to guess the amount of pain the poor lady was in. |

Considering he couldn't run during the preseason because of a groin injury he'll be fine during this absence as he'll actually be able to do plenty of fitness work. Like McDermott said when Singleton was banned they'll put him into a mini preseason now so I think he'll actually come back in much improved shape. |
