| Right man for the job regardless of passport.Pro qualities to coach and manage are the motivational skills.
For me the big issue is whether the RFL will be dynamic enough and fully supported throughout the game to go for the best man available or fudge a search process to gain a concensusly 'acceptable' canidate.
Are their really enough English candidates that we instinctively can point to one who stands head and shoulders above the rest with a CV to die for?Can we afford the best candidate?
Considering the headline competitions due within the next 5 years we have a make or break choice here as to how RL will be perceived .
Personal choice would be wayne bennett.
However having read the headline on the menu page i still think BILL BELICHICK should stay despite the weird call he made on 4th down on Sunday, lol.

I agree, there is more than a coach can do, we need a long term plan, but a good man at the top can help paper over a few cracks, whilst the major redevelopment is done behind the scenes

True, so long as that's what happens. Too often a high profile coach could paper over the cracks, while the RFL stand around looking shifty, whistling in an unconvincing attempt to look nonchalant and saying "What cracks? We can't see any cracks."

| I still have a funny feeling they'll possibly have mcclennan shortlisted in red Hall. Successful coach with Leeds and has had success with New Zealand. I'd be miffed if they did after TS but i do reckon he will be looked at

| Shaun Edwards if we only could drag him from Union.
However, for the England job he could still carry on living in London so he maybe an option.

| Before we need a coach, we need to select or produce a quality three-quarter line that can defend and attack with power and speed.

| If Ellery Hanley could be talked out of retirement I would suggest that he would do a great job as Development Coach as he is fantastic role model for the younger players coming up through the ranks. His achievements as a players are 2nd to none in both the English & Australian games. His dedication to the game and can instruct the players on general life decisions which will help them prolong their career beyong their international days. It should also be noted that he has top level coaching experience having won the Super League as a coach with St Helens.

As far as coaching experience is concerned Hanley already has a win against the Australian Test team on his CV which is more than some can boast.
