We must be skint if we are re-employing players who was not good enough to hand them a contract when their last contract expired. I have no idea how good the kids waiting in the wings are, but maybe the club don't think they're ready to be thrown in for the amount of minutes each week that may be needed of a club in an injury crisis.

With the demands on forwards these days I'd rather youngsters started gradually getting time in a managed way. Throwing a kid in when they're not physically ready can be very detrimental
