I don't know if I've been lucky or you've been unlucky. If such incidents are happening (which from what you say they clearly are) I agree that they need to be dealt with decisively. One of the great things about our game is the respect we have traditionally shown one another.
I take a group of about ten every year whoever gets there. I get 'earlybird' tickets which has the downside that we always seem to get in amongst the opposition fans when Wires get there. This has happened for both Leeds finals. We've had nothing but good natured banter even when, understandably, there has been great disappointment all around us.
I would be sickened and saddened if I saw the things reported here but the vast majority of the Leeds fans should feel proud of themselves. I hope we behave as well when we lose one (and we will).

Thanks for that. I think it is pot luck, but it is becoming a repetitive part of our final appearances that some people let the club down. I've got past where it makes me angry, just saddens me now. Some of these people should not be allowed near a rugby ground with the state they are in.

How many people heard the announcements outside Wembley that intoxicated people would not gain admission......then they serve alcohol to ANYBODY who is capable of opening their wallet and handing over cash.

There might be an argument for a "lower league day out" mentality as I understand that Warrington have problems with Hull and Salford BUT have even more problems when the lower teams come to town (even having a fire at Fax V Fev).

The stewards might not always deal with things as well as we'd like but the initial problem isn't caused by stewards, it's caused by mindless idiots embarrassing themselves, their clubs and the game.

Yes but the "fix", the answer to the question "how do we solve it" is not to expect an aggressive alcoholic to give up making a nuisance of him/herself but to enforce a no-tolerance attitude within the licensed premises.

The only reason that grounds employ stewards is to comply with H&S regulations, no other reason, if they weren't required by law to provide stewarding then they wouldn't - but they are also required by law to regulate the behaviour of their patrons on licensed premises in the same way that every pub landlord is, and as we all know, it just doesn't happen.

Its a sad fact that inside a sporting venue you can get away with aggressive and disruptive behaviour that in any other licensed premises would have you refused service and/or evicted, or result in the premises losing their licence - can you imagine the local magistrates refusing an alcohol licence to Wembley or Old Trafford Stadiums ?

I agree with what you saying but even if we had the best stewards in the world, or even the police inside the ground, it would still reflect badly on our club to see a number of people arrested or thrown out. The problem lies with irresponsible people. I will take my son again, mainly because he loves it as much as I do, but I will worry about who we'll be sat with just like I did this year.

On the stewards we had two blokes prowling the touch line. With "rapid response team" that made me laugh throughout the game. If I was going into a hostile ground I couldn't hand pick two people I would want less backing me up or sorting problem out!

Had the misfortune to have someone rather drunk sat right behind us yesterday in block 250 yesterday who spent most of the second half continually calling the referee names that I wouldn't repeat on here.

The choices are simple.

If you want to avoid your day being marred by drunks, bigots, boors, buffoons, the great unwashed etc... then do not purchase a ticket for any final to be among your fans, particularly behind the sticks. Instead, purchase a more expensive ticket around halfway among the neutrals and preferably months in advance to secure the better seats... this is what I have done for years. The other alternative is to not attend at all.

And that shouldn't be the case
