It's a similiar principle. Team does something in playoffs they haven't previously managed that season.

| Quote Dita's Slot Meter="Dita's Slot Meter"As a Wire fan, I'd just like to say that if the form guide (the table) runs its true course, then Wire will win.
Without sounding obvious, we will have to bottle it for Leeds to win.....However, I'm still a pessimistic fan (Years of following Wire), and this could easily happen.
I certainly respect Leeds, but don't fear them in the way we might have 2 or 3 years ago.....Good luck anyway, I just hope next weekend's matches actually match up to the hype that we have surrounding these play-offs, which, at the moment, have been absolutely awful, both in standard on the pitch, and atmosphere off it.'"
Strangely enough, I'm still a pessimistic fan from years of following Leeds since the 80's.
Heres hoping its a great game and the winner goes on to win the Grand Final!

| Quote MossdaleRhino="MossdaleRhino"As for the form I'm alluding to, prior to the wk 27 game at Huddersfield we hadnt won against any of the top four sides. Two weeks later we have beaten them twice in a run which has seen us lose just two out of the last 11 games, (although I stand to be corrected on that), so we couldnt be taking any better form into the game. If Salford can catch Wire on a bad day and win at the HJ stadium, then Leeds are more than capable of doing the same on Friday night.'"
Do you think Huddersfield played like a top 4 team last Friday ?
The only team Leeds have performed [ugenuinely[/u well against this season is Wigan. Beat Warrington and meet Wigan in the final and there's every chance of success....the only problem is....errmmm....Warrington and their ahem, superior brand of rugby.

| I reckon, like Jeff, our season will end on Friday night. Yes, we are playing our best rugby of the season, and it is a joy to see it after the Harley Globetrotter nonsense of earlier in the season, but it will not be enough this year to get past Warrington.
I hope we turn up and give it 100%, and that's all you can ask from a team who have struggled to adapt to the new coaching set up. Only time will tell how much of the transformation is down to BMD, but all deserve praise for their efforts to get us to this point in the season.
Would we have been happy back in Feb with a Wembley Cup Final appearance and contesting a play off semi?
I would certainly have taken that!

| It'll be another whitewash. Leeds are a poor side this season and have had the luck of the draw in the first 2 qualifiers. Hull, with no halfbacks and a ref that made key mistakes at crucial times and hudds who have just hit a wall. Hope for the sake of the playoffs and the reputation of RL i'm wrong.

No it isn't.
Team finishing 2nd (Leeds) beats team finishing 6th (Wigan) at home in play-offs in 2007. Quelle surprise, eh?
There's no logical similarity between that event above and the possibility of team finishing 4th (Leeds) beating a team finishing 1st (Warrington) in 2011, having not beaten any of the remaining contenders all season long.
Your latest moniker is apt.

Whatever trevor
Leeds did something in 2007 they hadn't managed before that season. just because they haven't beaten a 'top 4 team' yet this season doesn't mean they can't yet do it.

Dont get me wrong, I accept that if Warrington play to their form as they can do, then Leeds will have to come up with the performance of the season to win it. But I'm an eternal optimist I'm afraid!!!!!
However, saying that if Wire do get to Old Trafford at our expense, I would love to see them win it because they have raised the bar big time, and have been the best side in the comp clearly this season. Their points for and against in the League Table is clear example of their superiority, and they would be deserving Champions.
(Still hope we do em next week though!!!!! )

IF Leeds play their best yet this season from 1 to 17 (and Kirke is dropped).....AND the Warrington team all goes down with a debilitating illness....then I share your optimism.
