If we have a look at GH track record of sacking coaches, Bluey shouldn't have to worry at all IMO

| I voted for he should stay and see out his contract.
However I also see and respect TVOC's point in that if Mac is taking over the reigns in 2012 and isn't the kind of character to sit back and just 'observe' and help out on the training field then isn't Bluey a 'dead man walking anyway' especially if all the staff know who the boss is going to be in 2012?
Lets hope for the sake of the club getting back on track next year that Bluey and Mac can get a great working relationship going next season.
Put it this way,if next season starts as bad as this then how long into next season will it be before people on here are posting that its all down to a frosty relationship between our two 'head' coaches?

| Quote rhinoms="rhinoms"I see yer point mate in a business sense but surely if you are a 1st team coach of a sports team you don't want the CEO or Chairman telling you how we should play and what methods to use.'"
I'd say that of all the club chairmen in our game GH is the most "businesslike". He treats most aspects of the operation as a business so I see no real reason why he would treat the head coach any differently.
Just for clarity, I'm not advocating that GH tells BMC exactly how to coach the team, more gives him instruction that he wants to see more structure to the play, particularly with the ball.

| I agree there is no point in McClennan hanging around....a bit like the lame duck president situation but constitutionally here he doesn't have to stay.
I guess they the club doesn't want to sack him, but the hint is there and if I was him I would be seeking another job in the employer secretly-hoping -despite-giving-token-support scenario.

| Quote Lawrie L="Lawrie L"This seems a common theme at Headingley with "Player unrest" with the coaches, there is two ways to look at this, either the players at Headingley are given a "dont respect the boss" attitude that is maybye a culture at the club or we are simply employing the wrong sort of coaches

Or maybe its complete bollacks emanating from the gossiping tap rooms of the borough who need an excuse for what they perceive as a failed season ?
Pop into any warehouse in the district and ask a random sample of heavy box lifters whether or not they like their boss - you might not be surprised by their replies.

Hammer....nail....head Mcfieldy. I was gobsmacked to hear my nick was Billy the Bastard! Ungrateful shoites!
It always raises a smile that posters here are quick to castigate other fans for their repitition of TMFMISL's reputation, yet are happy to spout off as cast iron fact something equally as daft regarding the Rhino's dressing room.

| GH is aware of the mood at the club, surely, and if the 'unrest' was causing problems I'm pretty sure he would want it sorting. If he is not sacking people he obviously feels the situation is rectifiable and can recognise that there has been enormous pressure due to recent successes. The squad wasn't used to losing and this will cause problems with relationships.
I was never a great fan of Bluey, but with the two GF wins he has eased my original concerns. I agree with a number of posters on here that the team seems to have a lack of structure in attack and this has been highlighted by the recent injury to Danny. I hope that the double act of Bluey and Brian Mac can provide a team that is highly motivated AND well drilled. This working relationship will also lead to a smoother transition leading up to 2012, if Brian Mac is taking over as expected. The players will have an immeadiate grasp of what he is expecting and how he wants them to play.
If we can use next year to blood some youngsters as well as settling in a few new faces the future could be very rosy.

| I very much doubt you'll see that much difference in the style of play for 2011, it will still be McLennan's team to run and he'll want to live or die by his own methods rather than some compromised hybrid between him and McDermott's theories.

| Quote tvoc="tvoc"If Brian McDermott has been promised the job for 2012 (and it's reasonably unlikely he'd have taken the position without that assurance) then Coach McClennan may as well leave now.
All the retention and recruitment decisions taken during 2011 will be by Hetherington in consultation with McDermott anyway.
I don't see McDermott as being the subservient type now that he has tasted the head coaching role so probably best to just get on with it.'"
If the rumours are correct and he has lost the dressing room then I would agree and let him go now.
Sometime coaches don't get enough credit but I think many posters are giving Bluey too much credit for our recent silverrware. Firstly he inherited a champion team that were settled over several years with a winning formula. Therefore I would argue that it was this same team that deserve most of the credit for continuing to win rather than something new that this coach brought in.
In fact IMO he underprepared the team at the start of the last 2 seasons including 2 WCC defeats. Under McClennan the standard of rugby has declined, the entertainment value has declined, the discipline has declined, the support has declined. But my main concern has been that the game plan he persists with does not best use the talents in the squad.
If indeed the players are unhappy we the coach this is serious and may not go away, so the management has to listen and make a judgement.
