My hope was that the Franchise system and limits on none federation players would help raise the standard of the game. It doesn't seem to be working yet. Although that probably does have to be a longer term objective.

Those overseas limits were watered down amid furious back pedalling of the RFL under the scrutiny of employment lawyers but the RFL's heart is at least in the right place.

Ah yes the old English Clubs goals at odds with the governing bodies goals for the sport. That will never change no matter what the sport.

The club's (all clubs, not just Leeds and not just RL) heart is in the right place as well as long as it affects other clubs ànd not themselves.

Well the limit on overseas trained for this season was always going to be eight and I can only really think of Wigan exceeding that with Roberts, Carmont, Richards, Smith, Leuluai, Riddell, Palea'aesina, Bailey, Phelps and Hansen although not sure on Hansen's position in this regard.

Next year it's down to six though + any exemptions still with the clubs.



And some of those haven't even watched if your predictions before the weekend were anything to go by.

I can't believe the amount of doomsayers on this board. We hav lost a few games and some people believe this means we will be the worst team in the league! You may argue that because we haven't recruited well that that's the reason for this slump. But surely if most players have stayed and the squad is basically the same it is the same side that has won back to back titles! How could the same players suddenly become so bad in such little time?

Maybe a couple of signings would freshen us up but they won't make huge differences.

No-one has said or implied they will be 14th before the season is out.
