Ive known him and his whole family very well since he was 14. I speak with them daily. If you think Hastings didnt sign for Leeds cos ive posted the truth 2 years later on here you think this site is more important than it is lol.

Really? Not sure that's gonna be front page news is it? This all happened the best part of three years ago. The club were right on Hastings, super player that he is. Worth remembering that Lui, though no world beater, has at list lifted a major trophy since these transfers took place.

Not that bad leaking this info is it Doc?
Doesn't sound as though Hastings acted very honourably.....

Lets not forget at the time we really was in the middle of a genuine relegation battle. I applaud Lui for coming in and helping the club stay up and helping us lift a cup. He gets no praise but we are a better team when he plays. That said, hes served his purpose and its time to move on at the end of this season.

Quote: doc-rhino "not when we've 3 half backs we won't get half a season out of --- he'll have played 2 seasons when he goes'"
If we had signed him for what was a very large fee if reports were correct he could have left at anytime after signing the deal. So in theory we could have only got half a season if an NRL team came in for him. How would that have been good business. I can't remember anyone on here saying we should have signed him on those terms. It would have been total financial madness.

I would agree with that - the question is why were another top club prepared to accept those terms?

Hastings being at Wigan and constantly looking for an out has been disruptive. They can afford that to sone extent because they have a better all-round squad than us (or certainly did 2 years ago).

Lui is solid and has a great skill set; but not quite what we need to reach the top again.

Agar is clearly a fan of Hastings and as a player on the pitch he would have been good for us - but if you were an Aussie over here looking for a) cash and b) putting yourself in the shop window to get back home, I can see why Wigan looked the more attractive option to him. Sounds like he could have conducted himself better but he has track record.

Quote: christopher "On Mclelland and Eastmond, maybe the club don’t have faith but your missing the fact that Callum is injured so unavailable anyway, Eastmond signing might not work out we’ll see.

And on King, who is he blocking? Gannin has played first team this year and our you g prop Holroyd is injured, who else have we got?

The reason the strategy doesn’t seem coherent is because of all the injuries'"

Leeds have Myler and Sutcliffe who can both play half whilst injured players recover - Eastmond smacks of desperation and poor planning - where are the half backs in the academy - do we really need a 30+ player who hasn't played RL for 10+ years?

On king I fail to see the point - again its quantity over quality - again you maybe correct about the injuries.

Given the win loss % it isn't working and what happens to these players when the injured players return?

When those players return we have competition for places, im sure you can put a negative spin on that aswell though.

When these injured and suspended players return most will be back in the 17.Far too early to judge whether Eastmond turns out to be a good signing or not.I personally think he was worth a punt considering the 50% first year 75% second salary counting towards the cap.On King we needed another prop after the late loss of Ava and this was turning out to be very difficult.James Harrison had been linked but that would have involved a fee and considering the loss of income the club probably thought he wasn't worth it.King is only on a 12 month deal so if he doesnt work out we have hardly had our fingers burnt.Fail to see how you can bring the win loss percentage in with our present injury list.

Given Eastmond has been given a 3 year contract that is (a) one big risk, (b) suggets a lack of belief in the younger halves. King - I don't see the point of bringing an untried prop half way around the world in the hope it might work out?

The point about the win % is that it wouldn't have been any worse if we continued to give the youngsters the chances to play. What was the point of playing Mellor in the centres when Sutcliffe has done an excellent job when asked or Hall could have had 80 minutes experience - Mellor in the 2nd row - Thompson bench, no King. Surely Tindall could have also been on the bench rather than Briscoe?

Young players will be the most important asset especially with a much reduced salary cap - there will be no reserve grade so where do these players get game time to develop? Signing mature project players cannot be the way forward for any club that has top 4 aspirations?

If they're good enough, they'll get their chance. Will be plenty opportunity this season and next....

What we need is quality not quantity - doesn't matter how many you have if they are all mostly squad players - how do you think having 6 average players is going to improve the overall quality of the output of those 4 places. All these players lack the ability of their counterparts at Saint, Wigan, Cas, Warrington, Hull, Catalans - so how is having more competition going to improve the quality gap?

Eastmond is on a two year contract. A Sutcliffe didn't play because he's injured. Hall is only 18 and from what we have seen so far he isn't ready for SL. Mellor has played centre before which left Thompson Walters and Martin for second row. If we hadn't brought King over we would have been really short as there wasn't any props available. At the moment we are giving young players a go. Tindal is very raw and I think Luke Briscoe can over more positions that's why he got the nodd.
