| Quote christopher="christopher"I think the problem Golding has is we are pretty well covered in the positions he can play so as you allude to his wage would be better spent on our pack. I bet he's not on a low wage (or at least not on the lowest bracket) either as he was our number 1 when he resigned wasn't he?'"
Although RL is a game for people of all sizes, if you're not big and powerful you have to have exceptional skill, pace, evasion, bravery, technique to make it.
I do think Golding is a handy player, but at this stage a squad player and he needs to be playing regularly to develop.
In general I'm afraid Leeds are going to have to prune hard to achieve a solid foundation for future success, and there are some tough calls in there.

| Quote The Eagle="The Eagle"Regarding Golding I just don't get the situation.
He was the next big thing a couple of years ago and given a big contact. Now I don't think he's a star bit he's a decent enough player. For him to have not featured this season when we have been so dire is baffling.
I know different positions, but when you see the performances being put out by our powder puff pack it makes you wonder why more people aren't being frozen out'"
His wages are better spent elsewhere imo. He will be on good money I'd expect as well as he was viewed as the number 1 fullback when signed.

| I doubt hes on that much. £50k I would think. Walker was only on £20/25k before his contract extension.

I agree to an extent although we’re all speculating on whether his wages are high or not.
But as a club we have to be very careful treating players like that. Especially ones from our own youth system. If we want the same loyalty, determination etc that we saw from Peacock, Sinfield, McGuire etc then we also have to show some loyalty and integrity towards the players. Without that we’ll never generate the same desire or will to win in the team.

| Castleford love an ex Leeds player, they’ll be adding Daniel Smith and Thomas Minns in the coming weeks

| Him - I'd say the club have given Golding a lot of chances to date, not to mention a much longer deal than he should have been given. He's in his 6th season, and has played over 60 games without ever looking like cementing a spot. So long as we have a decent stand-in full back (Lolohea I assume) I'd have no qualms if he left.
He's one of those players that has to take his future into his own hands - by all means leverage the contract with Leeds, but get yourself into the first team somewhere and prove you're good enough and Leeds are wrong.

| Seeing how good Austin has been at Wire I can't help but think we missed a trick. Were we ever in for him? I seem to remember him being available at the same time we were looking at lolhea

| It would have been pointless Austin coming here, he complements a very strong Warrington team, he would be fighting a losing battle against our poor Forwards, no leadership, unfit and penalty and mistake ridden sinking ship, he would have gone already.

| We were still in bargain bin mode. Austin was first choice 6 at a club hoping to get into the NRL finals. Lolohea was playing reserve grade full back for a celkar-dwelling team, at full back. Who could possibly think Austin would be the better stand off?

Brisbane what are your thoughts on James Maloney?
