I agree with you on the capable cover. I just don't think Golding is the answer. It either has to be a youngster from the reserves set up, or as normally happens utilising a winger or centre who can play various positions, i.e. what I suggested.

Surely you wouldn't want to move Newman though? He's a centre and should be allowed to learn his trade there.

I was just offering him as a name who could fulifll that role also IF it was required. From the players we have, centre appears easier to cover than fullback.

Wing is always the last place i would look to strengthen when you have many other areas as we do; but it's hard not to come to the conclusion that our options there are thin on the ground and that in turn leaves us with limited options at FB as if you have a good rotation of 3/4 wingers you normally have one who can fill in well at FB as we did when we had BJB for example.

Newman will get a big defensive test at centre on Friday, he has a tendency to get drawn in and allow his centre on the outside.

But how about Newman to FB with Tom Briscoe to centre and Luke Briscoe on the wing.
Tom played well there in a friendly and his defence is ok.
But if Hurrell is missing I would leave Newman and have Golding at FB.

This will be an interesting one to see if you have turned a corner or if catalans are as bad as everyone thinks. You only beat them by a similar score to what london did to them on their own patch a couple of weeks earlier so a difficult one to measure

Not really. Catalans are much better than London really. London got hammered by Cas. Friday whatever happens can not be measured to Sunday’s game. I would much rather be playing Hull KR, and Hull, before playing Cas. Then we could have been able to tell better if we have turned.
