Agreed.
Bailey is only ever going to be what he is. ie. not a bigger metre maker.
Leuluai on his day offers great impact but for short periods.
Burgess looks like he is going to struggle to made the grade at the really top level for me.
Ambler has potential and next year is a massive year for him.
If we sign an experienced high level prop to complement these ad Peacock it looks really strong. Without that addition we look paper thin, especially with Peacock's age and injury to come back from

| Props mature when they're 28 onwards. Biffa has a long way to go before he reaches that age.

So who's available then?

Sadly have to sway towards thinking you are correct on this one too

That's a great line that is always thrown out but it's not always the case. Players like Moz and JP who played 2nd row as youngsters develop as props more as they get older.
I can't see a player like James Graham improving that much as he reaches 28.
It could be argued Danny Ward and Ryan Bailey were at their best in 2004/5 when they were much younger than 28.
I see weaknesses in Luke's game that haven't improved since he broke into the first team. He not in the same class as Nick Scruton and come contract renewal time I wouldn't be surprised to see him looking elsewhere

I don't know but I'm sure there'll be an NRL expert on here who can reel off a list of names

| Dont get me wrong, i think Burgess is looking average now. Your James Grahams dont come around often, he is a machine but i agree he wont improve. Bails has had a great season this year and for me he will keep improving.
The good thing about Burgess is he has time on his hands.

Time on his hands is Ok but he struggles to keep the ball in his hands too often for my liking. He is also pretty poor defensively and gets caught flat footed far too often.
I love him to prove me wrong and will support him whenever he's in a Leeds shirt but I'm not sure how much improvement is in him.
Bails has had his best year since 2005 - I'm not sure he's been better than he was then. I don't see him improving much more, just maintaining a similar reliable high standard

| The thing with Burgess imo is that he's suffered with the dreaded "2nd season syndrome" although the same mistakes are happening time and again.
Given his age though i'm not ready to give up on the lad and i fully expect some improvement when Brian Mc gets here who as we all know was a no frills smash them prop.

| We need to sign a proven prop with good go forward now. JP may struggle to overcome his serious injury and Biffa may go downunder. Ambler has shown good prospects and should be in the side next week.

He's been quick enough to do a good job, primarily on the wing for the last 4 years. I think that is fine as a long term solution. I don't see him as a centre but size isn't everything - ask Brad Godden.
The problem with your last paragraph is that McGuire is our player who can do something different and is gloriously unpredictable. He is not a great organiser and would benefit from having a good organiser alongside him, not another player like himself.
We will have to make transitions but expectations will not necessarily be lowered.'"
We'll see
Have to agree with you ref Burgess and Ambler. The former seems to have gone 'backwards' this season.....and for a while I have advocated giving Ambler more opportuntities/game time: he should certainly be above Burgess and Kirke in the pecking order.

| Quote: darwoo11 "Hall doesnt have the hands for a class centre and is far better where he is..........why even contemplate moving a lad who is a top notch wingman??
Smith has not the distribution skills in my opinion to be a success at stand off. He can be a very effective full back and with some speed work could still play out wide if required.
As for the back row........you can have as many back rowers as you like if they are much of a muchness. We never replaced Ellis like for like and needed to!'"
You might be right.....but as stated before, Smith will have his work cut out to compete with BJB and the present incumbent in his present most probable best position of FB.
He is filling a gap on the right wing admirably (probably is [isecond best[/i present position)....but long term ??? He is has that x factor to be a regular first team choice....the question for me still remains which position !!! In many ways he is wasted on the wing, but too small to be anything more than a stop-gap centre in the modern game.
Hall has grown well into his regular first team wing slot.....think he could easily do the same for centre with, again, the right coaching from the professional club that Leeds is.
Again short term it makes no sense to experiment.....next season could be different.
Surely we did 'replace' Ellis with Eastwood ? The fact it developed into a farce is of course tragic.
However, all this is incidental in contrast to the greater urgency the club has to replace Peacock and his immense go-forward ability: perhaps we never will.....although I do have great hopes for Ambler who looks the part of a top class SL prop. Fingers crossed.
