| Rumour has it there have been issues surrounding his girlfriend's ex and the custody arrangements of the children - so she can't come here so if he wants to be with her he has to return to Aus.

Would yuo all be this understanding if, say, Sinfield, wanted to walk out mid contract and play for Wigan because it's closer to home?'" The other end of the Pennines is a bit different to the other end of the world. Having said that, I understand where you're coming from, and I agreed with your post regarding tough love the other day. It wasn't as if he was made to sign the contract in the first place. Any contract should be honoured, imo.

Although due to Origin bias in the early 80's I remember that Peter Sterling spent many years without a test cap at home, he only got selected on tours for quite some time. Murray was selected ahead of Sterling far too often in home tests, much in the same way Deryck Fox seemed to play for GB while the likes of Andy Gregory watched from the terraces.

| IMO i can't see Eastwood being at the club next season, I have heard that it is now common knowledge that he will be going home at the end of the season?
I have also heard these rumours from a couple of ex players/coaches
The bit i'm most miffed about is that the Rhinos resisted the opportunity to replace Eastwood once his initial working visa was refused
Both Bluey and GH openly stated that they would stand by him and would keep his quota place open even though they could have taken the easy option and signed someone else instead
IMO if he does go home at the end of this season then it will be a smack in the face for our clubs loyalty shown towards him in not only hanging about for him for a full season, but then still handing him a 3 year contract, and on the contract that he both craved and duly signed!
If Greg doesn't want to be here next season......
Then thanks for the glimpses of your undoubted talents mate, but you ain't a patch on the player you were brought into replace
But if Greg does decide to stay next season.......then i hope to see him realise his undoubted potential whilst he's at the club
Oh, and to stop whingeing about going home

| I said when he lied about his convictions that we should have binned him. He messed us around then and is still messing us about almost 2 years on.
Those defending him need to take a look at themselves and work out who they support at the end of the day. The player or the club?
The same ones defending are more than likely the same ones who castigate loyal players after one bad game.

| We should only use players totally committed to our club. However if he is breaking a legal contract or wants to be released from his contract either he or the club he joins should pay us compensaton which should cover expenses and replacement costs.

| Just been watching abit of the Eels v Bulldogs game (er..working from home.. honest), camera panned to a big poster in the crowd "Bring back the Beastwood". The way they are performing they need a permenantly injured back row forward as much as they need anthrax poisioning. As for a swap for Andrew Ryan, you have to be kidding (although he at least has played every game this year).
Lets see what happens when (or if) Eastwood manages to stay fit and play for a few weeks in a row. When you can't do what yo're paid for and enjoy little things start to get blown out of proportion. Maybe this is what's happening with Greg and all this will go away once he's back doing his job. Or maybe he actually is a big whingeing baby who wants to play for a really average Bulldogs team.

Agreed.
If the rumours have some foundation then he has no desire to play for the club. He's been good when on the park, but over the last 18months hasn't been available as much as he should have been

| I've got mixed feelings about it.
Has he messed the club about? was it his fault for not being able to join us last year? (apart from him committing the offence in the first place)
He's been injured a lot but injuries are injuries nothing you can do about that but when he has played he's looked very good and not shown any lack of commitment.
I'm sure homesickness is not nice for a young single lad halfway around the world although I do agree he should "man up" for just one year and as for not honouring his contract well nobody held it against lee Smith who was welcomed back with open arms.

I agree with a lot that you said, particulaly the loyalty Leeds have shown him in the last 2 years.
However to judge him against Ellis after his horrendous luck with injuries is a bit silly. He's obviously got issues outside of RL, which is the reason why this thread is active, add to that his fitness levels have been constantly up and down due to injury. At Odsal Eastwood tore Bulls' pack apart. Eastwood playing week in week out, staying injury free for a while, will be capable of doing that every week. So to say he's not a PATCH on Eliis is very harsh.

| An on-form, fit and firing Greg Eastwood is very much a patch on Ellis.
The Greg Eastwood Leeds have seen this year isn't.
The most disappointing thing is that he's had ample opportunity to set the record straight since these rumours about homesickness etc started appearing, yet he's left it to McLennan to come out with some platitudes about how hard things have been for him. It smacks of disinterest and disrespect to the club and its fans IMO.

| Love the way that people on here bang on about players loyalty to their employer, then spend most of their own working day posting on here, irony?
....by the way, i have the day off
On Greg, everyone makes decisions that are uncomfortable or misunderstood by others, he maybe going through a difficult time personally and needs to look after his own needs. He may not be the brightest lad and doesnt know how to put these difficulties accross. Maybe he doesnt have to justify himself to the public, only to his employer. Obviously you guys on here have never let anyone down, have always made the right decisions and shown 100% loyalty to your employer and its customers?! No?...
From what i see his is a decent bloke and has given the highest level of committment on the field and to practice, and i would wish him all the best.
