| Had the linesmen done their job that was a clear 3 nil you are likely to see and with some better crosses and Piroe one on one we could have bagged 5 or 6 which would have made a real statement. Sheffield and Burnley dropping points a real bonus but I was half expecting us to concede so well done Leeds. Darlow again doing what he had to do Rodon Ampadu and Bogle good and Tanaka much better than the last 2 games. Special mention to Lord Patrick of Bamford who I thought was very very good. Aaronson again I don`t think won one duel and only recall one decent pass. But as we know we don`t have another player who can run around like he does.

| Agree mate. That Lino should never work a game again. Scandalous. Bamford was absolutely superb, when he’s fit and on it he’s a good 9, he really is. Thought Tanaka was poor again and Gruev not much better. They need to step up with Rothwell out for a bit. James was class, yes he misplaced odd cross but he set a fantastic tone, very very sharp.
Darlow good again and made some good saves.

Agree with all that. There’s only one player in The Championship scores that goal last night, absolute class from James. To give a defender 10 yards start and have the desire and courage to get in front of him sums the lad up. Neil Warnock’s assertion that he’s Player Of The Year is one that I absolutely agree with. Nice to hear Farke praising his work ethic and effort in defence, it was noticeable how much trouble we had down the opposite flank from James, it’s no coincidence. Bamford put the centre forward debate well and truly to bed last night, he showed what we’ve been missing all season. Joseph will be gone whatever next year, as will Piroe if we go up. If we stay in The Championship Piroe better start looking for a comfy cushion and a good flask. Like you, I thought the midfield was porous, and despite some decent individual displays the defence lacked overall cohesion. Firpo and Byram both struggled down the left, just a good job Boro’s finishing was shambolic. Ultimately a great night for us though, despite the linesmen doing their best for Boro.

| Yeah agree with much of that. But i would keep Piroe if we go up, but only as an impact sub, in this system at a higher level you need a real quality 9 who holds the ball up and presses like a demon, oh and who can score a goal or two also.. no easy task! and that's not Piroe, but he is a good finisher, and would be useful in a squad (plus we can't replace everyone first time should we go up)... The pace and physicality of the Championship looks to be taking its toll on Tanaka, but we have no other option there at the moment, he has been great for his first season in England, he just needs to give it every last drop of energy he has left. I expected more from Gruev tbh, i wanted him to win the ball a lot more than he did.. Boro look a very handy side and just lack a bit of quality up top

| You would imagine if we do go up and I haven`t a clue if we will or not considering how results are going lately. But if we do the likes of Meslier, Byram, Struijk, Wober, Firpo, Aaronson, Bamford, Joseph, Gyabi, Geldhart, Kristenson, Harrison at least will all depart plus one or two out on loan that I can`t think of. Personally out of that lot I`d keep Wober but can`t see it happening. So that`s a hell of a lot of players that need replacing with only several weeks to get them signed and integrated into the way we play. Oh and we might have a new manager too.

I think this squad will have done its job if they can get us promoted. The reality then would be, no more than a handful would be worth keeping if we were financially able to upgrade the vast majority. Forest have shown the only way to prosper as a recently promoted club, a massive cull and signings befitting a serious Premier League club. If you try tinkering around the edges it’s only going one way. We’ve struggled against some really poor cellar dwellers recently, and that’s a symptom of players barely able to beat crap Championship teams let alone compete at the next considerably higher level. I’d keep the likes of James, Ampadu, Bogle and possibly Rodon, and then look to upgrade all the rest. Might seem harsh and pessimistic, but to me that’s the unfortunate reality of the leap in quality we’d have to make.

| I agree that not many are anywhere near PL quality and need shipping out. Also agree that our recruitment team need to start agreeing how many loan players we have to bring in at least lower mid table PL standard with the unearthing of a Raphina type thrown in along the way. From your list of 4 I would add Tanaka and maybe Rothwell as squad fillers at a push. I see you`ve omitted your mate Piroe

Ha ha, yes I have. I’ve nothing against him as a fella, but as a centre forward I look at him and think, “what exactly do you do?” I may scrutinise him more than some others on here, that’s probably because I played centre forward all my life. At youth level I played for Leeds City Boys and Yorkshire Amateurs where I partnered Peter Swan up front, who obviously went on to play for Leeds, and I later played up front in representative matches with ex Newcastle and Everton’s Jim Pearson. I’m sure they both watch him and think “what an absolute Fanny this fella is”. I got the same feeling from Stan Collymore on Tuesday. So the short answer is yes, I’d like Piroe gone asap.

What year were you at Leeds City Boys and YA if you don`t mind me asking? I started at Yorkshire Amateurs about 1977 and Leeds City Boys shortly after. The same lads were in both teams to be honest. Me and Mick Adams were there from John Smeaton’s, Swanny was there, and then the likes of Ian Noteman, Mark Whaley, Gary Harland ( who made a good living out of golf later on) Ian Myers etc who all went on to play either semi pro or top level local amateur. The Ammers played where they always played at Bracken Edge, and we trained up at Temple Newsam. Leeds City Boys played up at Oldfield Lane, which later became the TV Harrison ground I think. I actually thought Mick Adams would be the best of the bunch, but Swanny was a late developer like me, and was pretty skinny as a kid. Obviously he turned out to be by far the best player and made a huge guy. My career went the same way as most lads from the estate’s in those days, mostly on the back of a liquid diet ha ha.
