| Quote Gotcha="Gotcha"The exchange thing isn't real. I have no doubt their accounts and cap will be in Euros, and therefore needs a set rate, but it is a long time since a rate of 1.45 would have been deemed correct.
IF anything they will have been at a disadvantage on that score.'"
I can assure you that this is very real. League express ran an article in August last year that stated that other clubs in super league are furious that although the exchange rate has dropped from the high 1.40s down to 1.1 last year there had been no change in the salary cap regulations and Catalans have been using that extra allowance to their advantage ever since June 2016. surely that's a long enough time that the authorities could have corrected this and set the exchange rate at a fair level. how else can you get in Kasiano last minute with the squad they've already got? I'm sure if the exchange rate rapidly shot up into the 1.60s Catalans would be the fist ones to complain and get the rate changed. When I said set the exchange rate at the start of each season I obviously didn't mean for that to affect existing contracts. purely for new arrivals should they be deemed to be exploiting the cap with the current spend. Anyway i'll leave this now as we are on the transfer talk thread and I don't want to be blocking it up with salary cap talk

| No thanks - are we that desperate? Has the ability but blotted his copy-book at Warrington. Not the right kind of professional for the new direction the club is aiming for.

| see it looks like we've lost out on the Cronulla prop. Reports down under say he's decided to stay and Sharks will now lose Segeyaro to get under the cap for start of the season. i think they only signed him to protect Johnson knowing if no one agreed to leave they'd have lost him under the last person in, first out rule they have

| Ah, exactly what we need, another turnstile in defence with a history of being fat and unfit. Will fit in perfectly.

I wouldn't rule out this signing happening just yet. He injured his knee in a trial and is out for around another 3 weeks. Sharks can't register Segeyaro contract until they've created space, so he's not signed on yet. Leeds are probably waiting for his recovery before signing the contract (no point paying him for 3 weeks where he can't play) - once he signs for Leeds, Sharks will then register Segeyaro (unless another club sneak in for him).

| We are desperate, and desperate times sometimes need desperate measures. Problem players like Sandown and Segeyaro wold get Rhinos going. Like them or not and both are cheap on loyalty, but players in terms of rugby are quality, they would both walk into this team and improve it, in fact they could walk into all SL teams. It's a risk but a calculated risk and with Furner at the helm both players will have a lot in common with the coach. The experience they could pass to the academy kids would be invaluable, and a coach like Furner you would expect him to have a good working relationship, everyone deserves a second chance, these two would solve a lot of problems, having a hooker who would get the pack moving forward and tighten up the defence and Sandown he would get the backs going. Think about it before knocking it, life is way too short to keep bearing grudges
